As a 46yo with kids 7 & 3. I endorse this point of view. :)

Try something, get exhausted, take some time off, then get involved in something else. Rinse and repeat until dead.

That's how I do Europe/Alps. Paper maps are just awesome. Means your brain is fully engaged as well. Tank bags are definitely a great option. Although I do admire setups where you don't have to look down as much. That was one

Yeah, I've avoided mounting a phone to bike here in Aus yet, but could see how easily heat and using gmaps would fry the phone to the point of shutdown. I've managed to drive/ride and just listen to voice which worked well en

Actually, Gmaps seems normally fairly decent for cycling, which was my main method of transport. Only thing is, there are tons of cool cycle routes around, and I'd like to say I prefer those. It needs some safety/effort-based pref

It is for the most part. I only had a little candy-bar SonyEricsson at the time which had really limited interweb capabilities. Other guys had iPhones, but for the most part, winging it was great and got you where you needed to go.

I still use facebook (minimally), but wrote a Grease Monkey script to auto-delete anything older than 90 days. This way I can still keep the Aunties/Parents etc happy with photos of the kids, but that it only lives on there a short whi

Utterly awful article. If I know that I've gone and gotten the milk a dozen times or more recently, I have a pretty good idea of the minimum and maximum amount of time it'll take me to go get that milk. It's 4km, about a seve

Shut up and take my money! I've often thought I'd love a row of seats to be swapped out for four beds, one on top of another. But being able to sleep in the cargo hold is better than nothing. The airline could earn more than the c

Buy 10 years of registration initially, then each year set yourself a reminder to extend this by one year. It's not automagical. That said, with Gandi, you can just set it to auto-renew, which works pretty well.

I'll do about 3 hours of coding. Completely offline. I don't bother connecting to wifi at all. Other than that, Sleep or Read. I've a ton of books on my Kindle to read. And when not sleeping, I try and get up and walk around.

I'd guess that most people who've travelled have seen something similar (in SO many countries). It's just the western post-Victorian world that seems to have such an aversion to poo. Washing is definitely far superior. Yay Ro

My concern is this would be a great vector for some form of State-sponsored deployment of a sneaky rootkit which is then embedded in everyone's GPU. That said, I'd much prefer to see GPU cycles (and power usage) going towards scie
