The data appear to be correct. Maybe you’ve ingested to much propaganda to believe these numbers. I’m always skeptical of statistics about highly politicized issues as the interpretations and sampling can be very irresponsible/biased.

Norway has __considerably__ lower population than the USA. There has to be normalization or your comparison is just bogus.

Apparently the USA is behind Norway, Finland, and Switzerland in mass shooting deaths per 100k population [1]. For typical gun related homocides it is most certainly correlated with poverty and education. [1]: https://lh4.googleu

Out of curiosity, what use case do you have that makes a POSIX shell a big deal? I’ve never had issues as a somewhat heavy user.

This is just fantasy. Sure in nice places where you likely live this may work. These areas are not where police homicides tend to happen though. Some areas of the USA are actually very dangerous. In these areas there is a much higher likeli

What the heck are you talking about? There is plenty of available space in the USA. It doesn’t have to be some crazy dog pile into desirable areas. Spread jobs and amenities out and we all don’t have to jam into a few cities or fight people

That doesn’t really agree with the conservation of mass: > The law implies that mass can neither be created nor destroyed, although it may be rearranged in space, or the entities associated with it may be changed in form . . . -Wikipedia

Manual memory management is just one aspect of performance. If you want to compete with C you’re gonna have to be able to hand tune some bottlenecks. The compiler isn’t going to produce optimal code.

I think there’s a caveat that the language needs to support inline assembly.

As far as broadcom and intel drivers. Intel is definately superior. I have both chipsets in my devices, and I've had bugs in broadcom drivers cost me hours more than once.

I didn’t even know about __builtin_clz(0) being undefined and I use it regularly (for code challenge BS mostly). That’s really painful. It looks like it’s something to do with log(0) being undefined and hardware vendors just couldn’t agree

I find proof by induction very intuitive: “If every ‘legal’ step holds, then any way of chaining legal steps also holds”. There can be a lot of information gleaned from the steps (operational semantics for example). Playing around with indu

How does that battery life test show anything about the A11’s efficiency? - The displays will be drawing a huge majority of the power—diminishing the effect of the processors. - The batteries have massively different capacities.

Are you trying to make the “sufficiently smart compiler” argument here? The reality is that the fastest compilers for the fastest languages still require babysitting and hand written ASM for peak performance. > human effort is better spe
