I preferred when the refresh button was a link. It made sense because all of the buttons are actions to be performed (POST) whereas the refresh link simply checks for new emails (GET).

I agree that it's an outrageous amount of money, but it's not just a case of losing talent, it's also about losing trade secrets to a competitor. The $50M/$100M still sounds a bit out of whack.

Brilliant. Before this I used `ssh -d` and tunnelled everything through the port with proxifier.app but this is a much nicer (and free) solution!

You can do that in Node.js too, just not in MSIE <= 7.

I don't know about other languages but there are real practical reasons to choose 1TBS in Javascript, consider the following code: return { key: 'value', anotherKey: 'another value' } This is fine and works as e

I'm not ignoring it but my code always runs through JSLint each time its saved and that picks up misplaced commas for me. Also we're not talking about client-side javascript here; fortunately Node.js uses the V8 Javascript engine, not the I

Yeah, I understand why, particularly when old IE browsers don't allow a comma trailing the final declaration. I just find it ugly as hell.

I was afraid to read the style guide for fear of seeing the preceding comma pattern (I think it's popular in Node because ryah uses it). Thankfully it recommends the trailing comma :) var variable, // trailing comma anotherVar

I found it interesting that a lot of supermarkets in Japan lowered their prices following the earthquake/tsunami. This is despite the fact that they were disincentivised to do so because obviously the potential for profit on foods and com

In practice this isn't true. As it turns out, the browsers that don't support overflow-y (certain versions of IE) happen to display a vertical scrollbar by default anyway. Adding 'min-height: 100%' to the body will actually add a few pixels

This is the mind of a brilliant educator at work. It would have been very easy for Feynman to give a scientifically literate answer but he realizes that there is no way to give an accessible explanation that doesn't fluff the details. The f

The colours need a bit more saturation to really pop, they're a bit too washed-out and pastel. I like the concept, but the execution is poor.

Only publishing articles that are deemed to be newsworthy is not the same as keeping it secret. You seem to think that I'm in favour of some sort of a cover-up, there's nothing to cover-up.

I'd trust them a bit more if they said 'no' and spent their time posting newsworthy articles instead of feigning outrage to get a bit of attention.

Is there a pressing reason why you should know about this? This is a non-story. A minor spat that TechCrunch is trying to cash in on. Nothing happened here. Real journalists ensure that their stories have a certain level of newsworthiness

Why did they post this? This just looks really unprofessional in my opinion. The appropriate response would be to just say 'no' and if Moviefone/AOL/whoever wouldn't accept a no, then sure go public with it. The company behind the film obvi

I briefly tried this and pyjamas last year and I just don't see the point at all. I guess this is aimed at the type of person who isn't experienced in client-side web technologies (HTML/CSS/Javascript). The fact that somebody could code a w

Makes a lot of sense for netbooks where screen real estate is at a premium. I hope that if they make changes they will be user configurable though.

This is 2001, pre-firefox. If you want a frightening thought then try it's main competitor: Netscape Navigator 4! I remember Opera was my browser of choice around that time, it was a seriously nippy browser back then, way ahead of it's time
