Any hashing function would do it, but you leave your fingerprints and DNA anywhere. Would be easy to get access to it and copy.

I think there's a misunderstanding. The author doesn't mean actual postcards – like holiday greetings and the like – those are actually sent in the public and nobody cares. The author means sending letters without envelopes.

I'm not so sure about government-controlled DNS... But what you are describing is "federation" and that's what Diaspora and identi.ca are built around. Everyone can run their own server, and every server can talk to each

I don't think that's grammatically correct, yeah. The correct version would most likely be "из-за политики", though that's just a bit of a weird thing to say just like that.

Yes! I switched a few months ago. I find that the web interface and features offered are GMail-competetive. It's good, reliable, ad-free, and is accompanied by good customer support.

I disagree, the most annoying thing is when the unsubscribe link leads you to a 404 page (or an "Untrusted SSL certificate" warning).

They should store a history of WHOIS data for the site's domain and make separate archives for when the owner changes, I think. Also, why did anyone think that applying robots.txt retroactively is a good idea? :/

If you run KeePass (not X), e.g. via Mono on Linux or natively on Windows, you can use the KeeFox Firefox plugin. I believe there are Chrome extensions as well. I didn't find a better linux-native browser-integrating non-cloud alternat

OK, 401 makes more sense in that context. But another 403 case would be "the authorized user lacks permission to open resource."

Change the default meaning of 403? I don't think that's a good idea. When a user needs to be logged in to do something and they aren't, you show them 403. When access is restricted to people outside a network, they see 403. I
