This might not be the right place but I'd like to mention that for me, Line works less reliably than Whatsapp on Android. Line fails to deliver any messages unless I explicitly open the app. Plus as an aside, do we have any information

Garbage collection is slow, but reduces memory usage. So disabling it costs memory. Also, Composer does not keep running, once the job is done, the script terminates, so you don't have to enable GC back again (it's only disabled i

I see CDs as a sort of offline backup of the FLAC that I will rip from it; also a collection item. Some music can only be bought as a digital download though, if it's on Bandcamp or other shop with no strings attached, that's grea

I hope it never actually transitions. I'm one of those people who still buy CDs; I want to own what I buy, not have it leased to me for a limited time. I love music and having my own library is cheaper in the long term than paying some

I've used GMail before I switched to Fastmail. Not missing any e-mails, don't notice any excessive battery drain (using K-9 Mail here)

ChatSecure supports OTR, Xabber supports OTR, Pidgin/Adium too, so there's the multi-platform, open-source, end-to-end texting app. You just need an account on any XMPP server.

That's only for end-to-end encryption, say, OTR. What this is about is connection encryption client-to-server and server-to-server.

If you're sending a link to Gmail, Gmail could simply crawl that link, so I don't see how that would solve anything (except awareness, possibly? At the cost of convenience).
