I’ve heard this and at some large engineering orgs, I’ve even occasionally seen it applied sensibly, but IME irrational hype driven architecture dominates: 15 microservices at companies with 5 engineers. Event sourcing where it made no sens

I also find LinkedIn spammy and I’m fed up of videos everywhere, so for me the answer is definitely not more videos, sorry.

I think people in this industry make using complicated, powerful paradigms part of their identity. They don’t feel like they’re important unless they’re reaching for N-tier architecture or exotic databases or lambdas or whatever else it is.

This is amazing. Beautiful design, great categorisation, polished clean UX. Really great work, congratulations

I mean this in a non snarky serious way: these things are a totally unnecessary luxury electronics item. Don’t buy one at all is also an option.

How can it not be true? One of the primary features of the rust compiler is enforcing memory safety at compile-time. C doesn't have anything like that. There are an entire class of bugs that are impossible to implement in rust.

This is objectively nonsense

I don't think c or rust are really 'closer to the metal' than golang (what they're using)

Here I am again this morning. I don't change any code, and yet a simple page refresh somehow triggers this: > Compiled /api/myroute/ in 797ms (3674 modules) > Compiled (3680 modules) It compiles when nothing ha

I watched the world record speedrun of Subnautica the other day and someone was kind enough to have posted a comment with a full list of all the bugs he exploited to beat the game in 28 minutes. It was quite mind boggling. When I played the

Original game was the same IIRC. You’d see it when you spied on enemy cities - ludicrously spaced out shields in their build bar

Meh, we need better charging networks more than we need better battery chemistry at this point.

LOL massive sweeping generalisation there. I’m European and have worked all kinds of overtime, sometimes willingly, sometimes coerced. You are aware “Europe” isn’t some monogamous state right?

Completely incapable of governing is quite some hyperbole. IRA Act, CHIPs Act that got a TSM fab up in record time on American soil, Operation Warp Speed. This kind of rhetoric really just feeds the beast.

Very interesting, in particular the explicit comparisons with hyperscalers. I almost wonder if this is preparation for them launching their own public cloud. Anyone from Meta care to comment?
