Well done. That’s the perfect attitude to writing and maintaining code.

I can see your point. I’m currently fitting new doors in my house and teaching myself how to do it. It’s a pain in the backside however, but it’s satisfying and I feel a sense of pride every time I open and close the door to go to the bathr

Yes I’ll second this. I’ve been through interviews recently and, given the current climate, it’s pretty gruelling compared to this time last year. Most of them had 3 stages and a technical task that was expected to be your best work ever. Y

I think there is always an assumption that the JS devs will thank you for not making them learn Swift and Java Kotlin, and that time will be saved by doing so. In both cases I think the assumption is wrong however. Devs love to learn and th

In my opinion a catch-all framework such as React native (and even before that, Appcelerator) costs you more in the long run than just jumping in and developing natively for each platform. On the surface these frameworks look great, write o

I does make you think. After 30 or so years, they still can’t make an operating system that won’t allow the applications that run on it to bring it to a grinding halt. How hard can it really be?

If FP is going to survive within mainstream programming then it’s the “very basics“ of it that will carry it forward. It’s the difficulty of understanding and application OOP that is leading to OOP’s demise. Unfortunately, and incorrectly,

Lol, it does seem a little minor. Imagine trying to communicate/coordinate during a naval battle using morse code in the Second World War.

It’s not really important. You really need to focus more on what you and the other person are actually doing on the call. Seriously.

If you could somehow automate this and provide a tool that did analysis of a companies aws stack usage over a month and suggest configuration changes that would be a big thing.

I like this. What a great idea for a consultancy. There must be so many organisations that are paying way more than they need by not tweaking each aws service they are using. Anything from using the wrong S3 storage type to using ECS when t

For what it’s worth, I’ve never once been asked to provide a link to my github profile during a job application. If I was asked I’d think they company were being pretty short sighted if using this as a way to filter applicants.

I wouldn’t personally look at someone’s work on github and take this as an indication of they type of code they would write for a production system. Not unless they provided their profile as a showcase specifically. I play around with ideas

Mainly some interviews themselves, when you get asked questions from a textbook that nobody has realistically had to know in their day to day job for the past 25 years.
