Really? Say goodbye to the promise of synthetic biology then!

From what I understand, Myriad's test involved synthesis of cDNA (which we scientists refer to as "complementary DNA", not "composite DNA" as SCOTUS does). This is still covered by the patent. However, any test base

What if you engineer a completely novel protein, with novel regulatory sequences, for a novel function? Should you be unable to patent such an invention?

A strong Windows phone is great for mobile computing in general. However, I find it doubtful that "design convergence" as you call it will help Windows phone. I think Windows phone is a great product, but it will take Microsoft re

Maybe they will change some of the icon designs so we can re-hash the ugly icon debate for months to come!

This is not encouraging... Hopefully they can resolve many of the usability issues before release. For me usability is probably the best way to substantiate a design criticism.

Sorry, I can actually substantiate my claim: "The title bar is white, the tab bar is white. If I blur my eyes, I don't see the distinct areas." "The Safari icon went from something beautiful to this" "48px roun

I appreciate that you cleverly responded to my incredulity being expressed via interrobang with an internet-styled typo, but I still find your argument unconvincing. If you look at the icons I mentioned, Voice Memos, Apple Store, Stocks, Vi

I can't tell if you're trying to troll or not, but I, too, think that the new icons are at least as good as, if not better than, the old ones. The old Safari icon reminded me of the Netscape Navigator 2.0 splash screen.

Colorblind people can tell the difference between color and black, which is how color is used to indicate interactivity in iOS7.

Other forms of colorblindness are incredibly rare.

People on here are nuts. How are the new gradients any different than the old gradients?! Any more "childish"?! (Look at the Messages app for example.) Is there any consistency between the old Voice Memos, Apple Store, Videos, iTu

Linked article is one of the worst offenders I've seen for unsubstantiated whining. I'm sorry I just don't see why many of these things are so terrible. It's like every designer thinks their personal taste is an objectiv

I really meant use - not just few hours of interaction, if that. I'm honestly curious if other people share the author's sentiments; a yearning for "state of the art" icons like the old Safari icon. It always reminded me

iOS was never particularly cohesive. App icons have always been a mixed bag (gradients, lighting, gloss, dimensionality). I don't see iOS7 as a particular departure from this. Also, if things are too minimal and cohesive, the UI become

Oh my god... so whiny. An annoying read IMO. Just keep using iOS6 if you are so inexorably fond of drop shadows, dock, tacky icons. You haven't even used the new OS... maybe try it before you whine about usability.

I honestly fail to see how monitoring telecommunication metadata is an infringement of rights. The government has not stopped you from taking any action. I agree that it COULD be used for evil, but that's not a very convincing argument

Even someone on reddit pointed out that these phone taps aren't warrantless wiretaps. First, the FISA court has given a warrant for broad information gathering (whether you agree with it or not). Second, they're only taking metada
