There are some studies that suggest crimes have fallen due to smartphones entertaining people. I'm not sure if any research has over-turned those findings but the authors equated it to there tends to be less crime and murders in Chicag

I use R because mainly due to the RStudio guys. I totally understand many of the author's points but you can easily write your code to avoid storing massive amounts of data in memory. edit: grammatical error fix

I noticed if you run a business, building a personal brand can be powerful (i.e I make awesome cakes and then people see them and come and buy them), however outside of that and being a public commentator, it's a bit pointless.
