That's not subscriber data, that's JustWatch "measured interest in SVOD services" data—in other words, people that use JustWatch tend to use more Netflix. Well, no shit, because people go to HBO and Disney+ for memorabl

Although there's a paywall towards the bottom (is it 25%, 60%, 90% through the article, who can tell?), the above-the-fold resonates and is a reasonable narrative about HashiCorp's success. Certainly HashiCorp shines in the UX de

It's not necessarily about anything shady though, it can just as easily be legitimate differences of opinion, too many cooks in the kitchen, bikeshedding, or landgrab concerns.

I, too, have fond memories of the old one-time purchase modality of software vending, but I have to admit such an arrangement is largely untenable for any software company which wishes to maintain a high quality product across multiple plat

This is a middlebrow dismissal. From what I can see this article played out exactly as predicted, and the idea that NeXTSEP rans on multiple architectures in the 90s is just half-assed retconning. In 2014 the conventional wisdom was that

What tools did they shut down that gave more control? I am subscribed to over 200 channels at my company as well as 4-5 other community Slacks. The controls they provide are fully adequate to tune to my preferences (which involves minimal

This is fantastic description of incentives and why technology is neither good nor bad, but provides leverage that can be used in dystopian ways when different forms of power grow unchecked.

This kind of sarcasm falls flat since slack has very fine grained notification preferences. You can make it as loud or quiet as you want. Of course if your workplace culture doesn’t support IC focus, then you have much bigger problems.

My company switched to Slack pretty early (mid 2014). IMHO the secret sauce was the volume and quality of integrations so you could pretty quickly turn it into a real-time feed/joint timeline of, well, everything.

Wow, I am floored at so many comments painting an egocentric view of the author. I find it highly ironic that supposedly high EQ neurotypicals would not be able to take one small step back and evaluate what is written with a modicum of ass

If you were early at Google it means more as going through that hypergrowth was very difficult and there was less dead weight. But for the last 10 years Google means essentially two things from a hiring manager's perspective: 1) you h

Happiness has to do with brain chemistry and disposition. It has nothing to do with intelligence or problem solving. Achieving goals and rewards gives a dopamine hit but it doesn’t produce happiness in any lasting sense.
