This seems like a very clever idea because it is so obvious. Is this the kind of thing that OpenAI will be doing anyway behind closed doors?

Translated with Safari, those posts are awesome: "The first law of superconductivity: stay away from theoretical physicists." What should I say, the rules are all used to be broken? I haven't been drunk for many years. Last F

I don't mind the naval terminology, it's interesting. But I think Hornblower is deeper than those guys. And... all of literature? I mean, Karamazov?

Or look further and try the Hornblower books? Less naval terminology, sharper characterization.

The argument here seems to be that there is a free supply of software developers available for the taking. Software developers are quite well paid, which suggests this is not true.

This comment and the grandparent can both be right. Society gets richer because automation replaces jobs, leaving us more time to do other jobs.

Reasons and Persons is a truly mind-expanding book. It's the opposite of the cliché of analytic philosophy as arid word games.

In my experience, adding a layer between you and what you are doing adds a potential layer to every bug, and a layer to what new developers need to learn. That needs a lot of justification.

All of East Asia is crazy low. Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore are about ONE. I think it's weird and unexplained why East Asian fertility has been hit so hard.

I'd also be interested to hear about applications beyond cryptography, which is a bit zero-sum.

A problem the NYT and the BBC and the Guardian and even Fox all share: they genuinely want to be broad-based platforms that appeal to a wide range of consumers. But in a very competitive media landscape, more niche-targeted players can carv

You may not need trade as much as, say, Holland, but you would be much, much poorer without it. US isolationism is not a rational world view.

That’s fair. But that’s the way mutate is designed: it uses `foo` as shorthand for `df$foo`. You could do …|> (\(x) x[vars] <|> bar())() But now we are getting into self-parody… as the article says, it’s a shame there’s no

No, you can indeed write `df$foo <|> f()`.

Other things: 1. Unmatched simplicity of dplyr for data manipulation. 2. Great graphs with ggplot2. Oh, and 1-based indexing. Try telling economics students why 3..5 means elements 4 and 5.

My fault, sure, but you didn’t suggest a better delete symbol. One would be ~~[ ]~~ but I think it’s less intuitive for the average person. I see the strength of your argument, but I suspect it works better for the extremely online.

If one line is to the right of the other everywhere, then the distribution is bigger everywhere. (“First order stochastic dominance” if you want to sound fancy.) I agree that CDFs are hard to interpret, but that is partly due to unfamiliari
