I've loved these blog posts so far -- they're a great intro to cryptography and force me to think simply. I'm excited to hear what Carla has to offer!

I totally agree with you. However, I can easily see how those physicians can justify their actions to themselves. "Do no harm" can be extrapolated in many ways by cruel people suffering from delusion.

I'm also looking for something similar for OSX/Linux. I'd love to move my "life" away from services like gmail (not that I have anything against it, just don't like having all my data that far away from me).

I guess I've misused the term then, I apologize. Instead, I should have said that the website is sexist, immature and a waste of bytes. Thanks for correcting me.

The fact that other double standards exist in other parts of the internet isn't what I was debating. I won't argue with you that there is an inherit double standard among both sexes, but seeing as this thread is about the website in questio

I'm amazed at the kinds of apps which exist and get exposure. This is stuff which might have been fun in high school, but there are actual adults using this. Not to mention the insane double standard. I'd love to see a man make a similar ap

I haven't been keeping up to date with Persona, but doesn't this open a window for email account breaching? I can picture some malicious websites mocking the "Sign in with persona" process and gaining the email AND associated password for t

I wonder what license the image was released under. While this could have been deliberate by Disney, I doubt they would use a (seemingly) very popular design on production material. Then again, things like this have happened.

This is a very ignorant and short-sighted response. While I agree that getting a PhD is not for everyone, you can't make a blanket statement regarding its uselessness.

Nice to see a big name company is doing this. It will surely help Linux adoption by a wider array of users. On another note, anyone else get that floating ad? Horribly placed and very annoying.

Thanks for the list. I've installed the LiteCoin client on my macbook but I'm having some connection issues. Troubleshooting now.

Wouldn't using a table for display purposes be an HTML anti-pattern? Also, I'm going to be generating content dynamically, so having classes would make things much easier.

Right, and that doesn't surprise me. However, this isn't a problem with standups, but a problem with people not understanding the underlying concepts or just wanting to look good to the team. *edit: missed a word

This is exactly how we do things where I work. We're a pretty big team (about 12) and our standups are finished in 10 to 15 minutes. It's strictly time-boxed and we don't go over. If you can't make it, we have a phone set up in the middle o

Agreed, but we're a different audience. As technical people, it is in Google's best interest to look "good" to us so we continue to use and develop things for their platforms. At least that's how I see it.

I definitely think this is a step in the right direction. Its more true to spirit of patents anyways and hopefully will draw more attention to patent trolls in the future. Good move by Google.

She has a right to be offended, but it doesn't actually entitle her to have anything done about it. "Being offended" is weak. It means nothing to others. You can't expect the world to stop because someone gets offended.

I think that would make the company look even worse. Announcing they're going to fire someone then retracting that statement when things die down? Sounds childish and unprofessional (much like this whole situation).

I'm late to this story, but this is how I see it. - Adria should never have done what she did. The best option would have been to turn around, ask the guys to politely stop. If they continued, she should have spoken with a con rep (like she
