Now go ahead and let anyone embed that application in another party’s application. A big part of what makes web successful is the ease of syndication.

I don’t think they could do that in a way that would prevent a fork from undoing it.

For sure. But C++ devs aren’t trying to convince rust devs to change their stack.

The issue is that for all rusts complexities, it can still have production issues.

I’d be really interested in that kind of study. My intuition has slowly been building towards thinking of LLMs (and potentially all generative models) are essentially search algorithms

Yes, this particular feature isn’t effective at stopping content from going somewhere unwanted, but I think the main design goal of bsky and the AT protocol isn’t that.

Well they recently published the AT protocol that they use. It’s an open protocol, so they’re going for some kind of community angle maybe? They could probably sell instances like mastodon, but I don’t think that will scale how they probabl

I think the goal is to enable users to avoid content they don’t wish to see, not prevent content from going to specific places.

Yeah, if they don’t add malware. I doubt redis will add malware to specifically their rust client. OSS authors can add malware too.

Another one! What’s the point of your argument? AI companies: “There’s a new machine that can do reasoning!!!” Some people: “actually they’re not very good at reasoning” Some people like you: “well neither are humans so…” > research on L

How do you think one leads to the other? Engineers due tend to be pretty critical of things that can’t be accurately and consistently measured (not meant as a slight. It’s true, but it doesn’t make those soft sciences worthless), but they a

I think AI isn’t the same as crypto or metaverse. The LLMs and image generation models have obvious utility. They’re not AGI or anything wild like that, but they are legitimately useful, unlike crypto. VR didn’t fail, it just wasn’t viral.

I don’t know if that makes it a scam. I think you’re putting the cart before the horse. Big cloud providers will push anything that would make them money. That’s just what marketing is. AI was exciting long before big cloud providers even e

But LLMs aren’t people. And people do more than just generate code. The comparison is weird and dehumanizing. I, personally, have never worked with someone who consistently puts out code that is as bad as LLM generated code either. > Mos

The ability to paste a URL into a browser and have that be everything you need to do to play a game is pretty compelling for many kinds of games. That’s what made flash games so big back in the day.

I work in the LLM search space and echo OC’s sentiment. The more I work with LLMs the more the magic falls away and I see that they are just very good at guessing text. It’s very apparent when I want to get them to do a very specific thing.

It’s difficult to reproducibly test openai models, since they can change from under you and you don’t have control over every hyperparameter. It would’ve been nice to see one of the larger llama models though.

People can communicate each step, and review each step as that communication is happening. LLMs must be prompted for everything and don’t act on their own. The value in the assertion is in preventing laymen from seeing a statistical guessin

There isn’t much utility, but tbf the outputs aren’t identical. One danger is the human assumption that, since something appears to have that capability in some settings, it will have that capability in all settings. Thats a recipe for expl
