"Empty" doesn't necessarily mean that it still owned by the developer and not yet sold on. It can mean that it has been purchased, but that whoever has purchased it has no use for it other than as an investment. We've ha

I disagree. Given the track record of the various 3 letter agencies over the past 50 years; any hacker who didn't think, prior to the Snowden leaks, that the NSA had cast a far-reaching net was naive in the extreme.

Why so? Surely, if the correlation is explicitly with leg power rather than endurance or general fitness, then anaerobic exercise (squats, deadlifts, lunges, leg-presses, as well as running/bike sprints etc) would be the a better drive

Yup, TLS 1.0 == SSL 3.1. So called as Netscape owns the patent to SSL, but granted a royalty free license to the IETF for their version of SSL, named TLS.

Drink. Alcohol (and possibly other recreational drugs) binds and cements friendships. After a few drinks, people are more open to talking about themselves in a more honest way and tend to reveal more of the person that they really are, rath

An excellent film. The cinematographer on Koyaanisqatsi (I forget his name) also directed two films called Baraka and more recently Samsara, which are in the same vein if you're into that kind of thing.

I've just realised that the dinosaur scene from Terrance Malick's Tree of Life is a hat tip/rip-off of the weird dinosaur battle set to Stravinsky's Rites of Spring in Fantasia.

Depends if the French are as disposed to shooting each other as Americans are. Over 10,000 Americans are killed by gun violence every year. This is excluding ~19,000 firearm suicides. Since 9/11, the number of U.S. citizens killed in t

I regularly exceed 40mph on my road bike, on downhills at least. It's fine. I'd agree that you shouldn't be in the bike lane at those speeds (though in much of the UK they are few and far between and mostly consist of a bit o

SMTPS has been deprecated since forever (late 90's or thereabouts). The standards for encrypted SMTP are: STARTTLS over port 25 for transfer/relay and STARTTLS over port 587 for submission.

I suspect that the 300GB figure comes as a result of (poorly) capacity planning for 1Mb/month @95th percentile per customer. If they can encourage people to stay within that limit, they can say: we have 1000 customers originating from
