The intended audience are people who haven't yet got into Emacs, and are therefore not familiar with Elisp, the packages and the options. Of course if you have a basic understanding of Emacs and an overview of the package space (and p

That and LSP just provides the intelligence for Emacs. The rest (syntax highlighting, navigation, ...) is implemented via so called "major modes" [0], that integrate various generic functionality for a specific language, and may

As you might have noticed, I am not a web developer, but I will try and look into resolvi g the issues you brought up. I have an idea of how to solve the font issue ( https://git.sr.ht/~pkal/ecg/tree/master

This is certainly a prototype, there is a lot that can be added (both option and UI-wise). If you could find the time to report the issues you found (either here or per mail), I would be glad to try and fix them.

As there are currently no Javascript dependencies, it is possible to use the site using EWW: M-x eww https://emacs.amodernist.com/ RET. That being said, the screenshots get in the way so it isn't that great (ironically

Perhaps, but you will still overwrite it when you exit the editor and let sudo copy the contents back (that being said, there might be a race condition between closing the editor and sudo noticing that the process has terminated). Not sure

My main fear with the introduction of generics was the lack of stdlib support. I know they want to play it safe and are planning to change this in future versions, but the last thing I want is that I have to download some github.com/f

I get why 16:10 is preferable (I'd like 4:3 even more, or even 1:1 on a desktop), what I don't understand is the incentive to push 16:9. Is it just because less pixels -> fewer expenses.

> Biggest lie ever. People want 16:10, but for years the industry shove 16:9 to your customer because it was the cheaper panel. Any background on this? I always assumed 16:9 became popular because of videos.

Rendering has HTML isn't really the issue, imo. The question is rather how readable the source remains, when you foget to fold lines, insert too many images without alt texts, intersperse regular HTML, etc.

My go-to example is uBlock: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gorhill/uBlock/master/READ... , despite being a great add-on, has 1/3-1/2 of unlegible Markdown, that looks nice when rendered.

The "easy-to-read [...] plain text format" indicates to me that the idea was that markdown should be readable in plaintext form too. The ability to convert it to HTML is a different goal?

The "spirit of markdown" has long been abandoned by GitHub, more often than not the offline readability of a README is absolutely ignored in exchange for a safe-HTML subset to create kind-of websites below the directory listing of

Yeah, that is why I said "manage via F-Droid". The implication is that F-Droid (the app) is responsible for updating your application, not some background service bundled in Signal itself.

Emacs has TAGS-based completion (basically completing known symbols in a project) and you can use M-x compile to navigate the output of a command that generates warnings and error messages. It is not the same workflow as other popular edit

Yes, exactly. Emacs core feature is that it is programmable, sticking to default would be like only using hjkl to move in Vim.

From what I know about Vim this isn't unusual. There is a division between those who treat Vim as a constant tool that should be kept as close to the defaults as possible, so that you can work anywhere it is installed (I'd consid

For some reason I thought that you don't have to add a possessive "s" after 28 (in the same way you wouldn't after Emacs'). As I only use metric units, I would have never seen the "28 feet" thing. Thanks!
