Yes, and I use terminal emulators too, but I look at it the same way I look at browsers. Sure, there is a lot of useful stuff being made with heavy Javascript dependencies, weird Web frameworks, etc., but this doesn't mean that the te

Acme and Emacs give good examples of how a non-terminal shell session can look like. They also make clear how a good CLI application should behave like.

My constant fear with TikTok is not whether or not you can train it, but whether you will realize when it has managed to train you.

The terminal (or rather terminal emulation) is a mistake, people should stop glorifying it. It has no inherent value, beyond being able to run historical software that was bound to a terminal. Most of all one should stop confusing the term

You can get a new Nokia dumbphone for 60 euros: https://www.nokia.com/phones/de_de/nokia-6310?sku=16POSE01A0... . Up until recently there were even models that only cost 20.

Why would you even what that? I get the opposite (phone without internet), but this has all the downsides for the development of a child without the advantage of a child being able to contact their parents or vice versa?

So something like abduco ( https://www.brain-dump.org/projects/abduco/ ) should do the job too? I think GP's comment was more concerened with the terminal multiplexing, not the ability to detach a session.

I like to see it this way: A shell /wraps/ the kernel. You cannot issue system calls directly, but a program that handles user input generically (and ideally dynamically), can do this for you. A desktop environment, Emacs, and

Could you elaborate on what you mean? The intention is not to have a finished configuration that requires no more work, but to provide a template on which further customizations can be made.
