For one, the "integrated" damage model does not use any climate data other than temperature. Rainfall, for instance, is crucial for agriculture, but is ignored. Note the parameters of the model: https://web.archive.org&

Economists have fit ludicrously inadequate functions to model the effects of temperature increase on GDP. They disregarded rainfall and physics in general. I feel betrayed by the IPCC for treating these studies seriously. This is particular

I finally got the chance to start watching this, and I am yet more stunned. Apparently the studies projecting GDP completely ignore the climate science and build their own ludicrous temperature -> GDP model. This does not even account fo

You could buy cheap property in currently cold regions. But only expect the ROI to occur after enough warming (decades).

The website speed is also worthy of praise. When I visit McMaster.com, I get DOMContentLoaded: 348 ms. When I visit Amazon.com, I get 2.39 SECONDS, and this is with a 10-core monster of a CPU.

I am not so sure it's worth it. In general, developer time is much more valuable than machine time. Maybe if you're building a large high-performance server, you should invest in performance. But otherwise, if you only look at at

I was referring to greenhouse gas pollution, which may have been unclear. CO2 and methane are pollutants. But your point still stands, as you illustrate. Countries might be importing CO2- and methane-heavy products rather than manufacture t

What you say is completely true. But you compare rich countries with other rich countries, and you are looking at exceptions rather than the trend. Morocco, the poorest country you've chosen, is richer than India, the Philippines, Viet

I thank you for clarifying! Indeed, a hot Earth would mean a lot of disruption. But we'd have a lot of time to deal with it, also. And IPCC (which is an institution created to summarize science and estimate the impacts) should have tak

I agree that we should aim for improving institutions, education, social equity, and health. But I believe this is orthogonal to fighting climate change.

Pick any measurement of quality of life that you want. You'll see that it's closely associated with GDP per capita. According to these scenarios, the planet won't die, in as much as it can support GDP.

Once you get past $20k/yr GDP per capita, there's indeed limited additional benefit (there are diminishing returns). But if look at the scenarios for Middle East and Africa, it would take roughly 10 years longer for the Green Road

I believe economic inequality is quite unrelated to pollution. You can have rich and green (Ireland/Switzerland), rich and carbon-heavy (Arab states/US/Aussie), poor and green (most developing countries have very low carbon e

This article is consistent with my experience. One thing I'd add is lack of search. Many instances outright disable searching, and those that enable it have it painfully slow and/or unfederated. I see there is a /tags/&l
