So sell me! Blackboard does a million things but I really only care about 1. posting syllabuses, links, and documents 2. making randomly generated auto-grading quizzes 3. auto-updating a gradebook. Does your software do these things better?

I use Blackboard as professor a lot, and while pedagogically it can do amazing things technically it's poorly done and annoying. I think the author wrongly poo-poos the one-stop-shop feature of Blackboard. The fact that the annoying quiz ma

I think a killer feature for this (or a competitor...) would be auto-turning pages using the ambient audio. "While I am playing piano and have no hands I have to deftly change the music, therefore I need another human " is a huge pain poi

I decided to test you a little bit and search for a lyric from a Janis Joplin song Another Little Piece of my Heart, "you know you got it when it makes you feel good" Without quotes this does not produce the song. Maybe increase the weight

Not back to 1996 they don't (the first year of online SEC filings) which for those of us interested in doing panel studies we'd love to have. You can purchase it for ~$20,000 for a small institution, I'm not sure what an individual license

I was really excited that they'd figured out a way to cull balance sheet data out of the filings. Doesn't appear so though, "XYZ Corp filed their annual statement today, you can view it here "

For public companies committed lines of credit are very common, probably more so than public bonds if you look at the universe of publicly traded firms. Why they get them is not entirely clear, liquidity insurance is the obvious answer but

My religion has taught me there was alien life since I was a child. I was also taught that all humans and all animal life will be resurrected. It's not too hard to extrapolate that intelligent alien species, should they exist, would as well

This issue is generally described under the heading "effective capital gains tax rate" in the literature, which back when the rate was higher was between 3.4% and 6.6% (1960 to 1978). http://www.jstor.org/pss/2352820 for an abstract that

Of course, but I think the averages of these are germane to this discussion e.g. I don't think Russia is the next outsourcing hub, but there are undoubtedly nice Russians and English speaking Russians who can't fit with other Russians in on

Suppose I had invested $1 million in a private company 10 years ago. It is now worth much, much more, how much no one really knows. I go to a bank and mention I own 100,000 shares of XYZ corp. Could I have a loan please, collateralized with

Is it hopeless? What if we presuppose that business schools are going to try, what's the best they could do? I know I'm hijacking the thread here but I'm in the middle of struggling with this exact thing (teaching an entrepreneurship class

If you were teaching an MBA course on entrepreneurship, what would you put in it? I ask because I'm teaching one right now and I need to do some serious lecture prep for Thursday. Over the semester I've assigned some the the essays like "ho

Johnny Lee was working for Microsoft when he personally funded the $3000 bounty for open source Kinect drivers. I know we're all probably quite familiar with who he is at this point, but if you're not I'd suggest poking around his projects
