He personally said that. It was mentioned in this thread. EDIT: Ah correction, he says "this is less than I would have been paid". It's the top comment.

After the demonstrations that money not in-hand is likely to evaporate before you can get it, is that still the case? Personally I ignore equity completely when deciding if a position is well paid or not. Equity is like a lottery ticket

Typical to what? What is offered? I'm not sure why we're even still talking about what is offered since it should be clear by now that early employees won't be getting that anyway.

A lot of people in this sub-thread don't buy that return codes are inferior, but they really are. The issue is that the low level code can detect the error and knows some strategies that could be done about it but it's only the high leve

Nice. Your comment makes it clear you don't understand any evolutionary theory, but you still feel ok judging people based on your ignorance.

Also keep in mind it may not have "worked for him". He made $200k less than he would have using the traditional route. Who knows how long it will take to make that additional $200k from this offering (if he ever will) and I'm skeptical ab

Total nonsense. The good developers in Philippines or India don't work for $30k-$50k/year any more than we do. They earn close to our rate in country or relocate to Europe/the US.

I wish it were so but just look in this thread. It seems to actually be dominated by workers talking like CEO's (i.e. "engineers should be getting less because of the following 10 intangible nonsensical reasons...").

I'm surprised it's only 15%. But really, nearly all big companies don't care about this at all. If they need something fast they'll buy it. Everything internal is just about cost, consistency, and predictability.

Apple isn't doing any "malicious" things if you're talking about "lock down", app store and so on (the lawsuits are a separate issue). And Google has done it's share of things; claiming to be for net neutrality but not really being when the

I really hate that motto since it's so good at blinding otherwise intelligent people. It has nothing to do with anything. Google's polices aren't "good" and Apple's aren't "evil". They're both engaging in trade offs. Apple can make sure

I've personally suspected for a long time that advertising was in for a huge disruption. Either people will realize they're not getting the value they think they are or some company will realize that 10% of what Google makes is still a ton
