Yes, it's always seemed really bizarre to me that anyone would be locked in a cage unless they were a physical danger. Now there's talk of locking up people for sharing files! Insane. If you believe that file sharing harms the economy (I'

I, for one, don't want movies, music or any other content creation to die. I would like to see the obsolete middle men die off though. They have no reason to be there and seem to be really awful people (going by what they do to stars and

If countless millions of people were buying guns at one gun shop and killing people continuously, of course cops would ignore the actual killers and go after the gun shop.

I find this argument weak as an "in favor" argument. How much we pay for things is also a status proxy ("You got that for how much? How much did I pay? Hrm, I don't remember...."). And we simply chose it to be this way. We could just a

Of course the free market isn't efficient in hiring. Companies do everything they can to hide salaries and, for whatever reason, the culture is such that people generally won't discuss it either. Imagine if everything you ever bought worke

This is true. Historically, I've gotten the most points on posts I posted expecting massive downvotes on due to their controversial nature.

Photoshop gives you much more than 20% over GIMP. Photoshop is light years ahead of anything else out there and only getting more so (see latest sneak of deblurring photos).

What? No. Borland was vastly superior to Visual Studio. Today Visual Studio is the best IDE in existence, but in the Borland days creating a GUI was much, much easier in Borland.

Photoshop users use Mac because it works the best for what they're doing. If they could have had the same solution vastly cheaper and 80-90% as good you think they'd have been willing to pay thousands more for that 10-20%?

I hear people say this, but personally I've never used any ad block and I nearly never see ads. Unless something weird happens like that one add that seemed to reach up into another one, I really never notice them.

I think it's settled alright [1]. You're allowed to resist unlawful arrest, to the point of killing the officer. [1] http://constitution.org/uslaw/defunlaw.htm
