My friend recently linked me to Path of Exile's expansive passive skill tree. Pretty inspiring to play around with that without even knowing anything about the game. I've pined for that kind of skill tree since I was a kid. I recommend any

Just google his name and "rivets". Looks like it's actually a joking remark Card makes himself to express what it's like to dabble in both sci-fi and fantasy (Card is successful with both). Card maintains that switching genres wasn't

I make (well, past-tense at the moment) almost $2k/month on a vBulletin play-by-post gaming forum I started back in 2007. One single adsense banner below the navbar. I actually burned out within 6 months of trying to bootstrap the fledgling

The shortcut to bring it up (fn+shift+f2) is pretty unwieldy on the Mac keyboard. Anyone have any idea on how to change the shortcut? No luck in about:config.

I don't think "fake niceness", empty compliments, and subterfuge are tenets of empathy or what the author was trying to express. The author provides this example interaction: Person A: I like this band. Person B: They're okay.

You spent the entire comment condemning the lack of experimentation protocol, yet your final challenge is the most trivial of all. What conclusion could you draw from your proposed duel? If someone can't beat you in a standardized IQ test a

Whenever the topic of nootropics comes up, especially when comments come critique, people seem to forget about the second most traded commodity in the world. The majority of people reading these very words are doped up on stimulants, probab

And The Beach . I'm a supporter, though. The difficulty of gathering like-minded people and starting a new sovereignty without having to modify entrenched, monolithic, slow-moving institutions is tragic.

Exactly. The tools themselves are rarely the source of anguish. I'd MUCH rather write a language I don't enjoy in a clean, well-architected project than use my favorite language in a bandages-on-"quickfixes"-on-bandages project.

I tried out Vimp because of this very thread and it's almost identical. Even the docs look the same. Which makes sense since Penta is a fork of Vimp. Worthwhile to spend the 30 seconds installing it, typing :mkv (to create the .vimperatorrc

I think that's his point, though: No matter how rare indium is, it isn't going to suddenly run out on a Thursday. In fact, the price of indium is at its 2-year low and 5-year median with a negative year-long slope. We can afford to incessan

Households could approach 0% waste just by caring enough to preserve food. But, as the article says, food is so cheap that most people just don't care. In other words, it's not risky because food preservation is so embedded in our society f
