You can use the binaries from xscreensaver as moving backgrounds. If you execute them directly they'll write to the root window. Example: $ /usr/lib/xscreensaver/moire2 -root

PGI's Fortran compiler, bought by NVidia a few years ago, has excellent GPU extensions. You set an attribute on an array, move stuff on there, do your computation, move stuff back. It was the easiest GPU coding experience I've had

They're the same. The only difference here is you have to use an xml parsing library to read the input instead of rolling your own parser and spec.

It was two things around 2004-5: 1) people using GWT to make SPAs and 2) the ability to lazy load content through XMLHttpRequest. GWT was essentially what typescript is today but java and it handled most of the nasty DOM related stuff and b

People liked the rollovers, not javascript. You'd see people try doing them in flash, shockwave, as java applets, activex controls, and I'm probably missing a few. If they were done in javascript, the code was heavily cargo-culted
