Reading his post was like a gut punch, and I didn't even know the guy. It breaks your heart to hear someone speak with certainty about their own demise, and to face it with such grace and clarity makes it all the more heart-wrenching.

   > A binary logic system can only answer “yes” or “no.” Maybe I'm missing something, but this sounds like a silly argument for ternary. A ternary system seems like it would be decidedly harder to build a computer on top of. Control f

I think people learned the wrong lessons from Apple. They thought that Mac products were successful because of their aesthetics, but in reality it's because they were the only products that tried to be usable.

I highly recommend it. The docs describe it as a zen-like experience, and I fully agree. Once you get the hang of it, it makes it so easy to tweak the syntax of whatever language you’re building. I love it.

I think what the original comment means is that WASM is heavily sandboxed in the browser environment, and cannot interact with the DOM APIs directly. You still need JS for that.

This is a naive thought, as someone who has only been doing devops stuff for a little over a year...but what about HCL? Terraform was my favorite aspect of the devops stack, because I really enjoyed the simplicity of the configuration langu

I wrote that comment as a stream-of-consciousness, so it could have been written much clearer. What I meant was that you probably don't want to reach for a CRDT of any kind unless either multi-tab or multi-user editing is an inherent p

You might want to check out old tech articles, as sprites were a very common approach from roughly 2005-2012-ish. Lots of interesting little techniques.

If your application makes active use of multiple tabs, it might make sense to use YJS or something, because it's very effective in resolving those types of problems. However, if your profile edits are single-user only, it's probab

I'm not sure that CRDTs would be necessary for image editing, since all conflicting edits could easily be resolved with a last-writer-wins approach. 3D models are a different beast, and I haven't seen any collaborative 3D modeling

I should add that I think Tailwind, much as I love it, has been responsible for much of this problem. Tailwind’s creator, Adam Wathan, wrote a book called Refactoring UI. It’s a book that teaches you how to design, and one of the things it

There’s no normal, but a good rule of thumb that has worked for me is: use flex for one-dimensional layouts, and grids for two-dimensional layouts.

I like this response. Kudos to sticking to your vision; it's easy to be swayed by users into building a kitchen-sink-fridge-toilet. If you build for everyone, you build for no one.

It's true that the library doesn't stop you from shooting yourself in the foot by duplicating UI references. But you can limit the effect of this with a bit of design work. I'm currently iterating on a few ideas, but this lib
