I'm inclined to agree with you regarding accountability. But, I dunno, I really don't want my company or business ethics judged by stuff I said to friends in college... through IM. People say stupid stuff all the time.

Find out why you were rejected (it could be for a very specific reason or no reason at all) and then apply again. I think there are a good number of people who were accepted after a rejection.

Disqus handles spam well but anti-spam isn't the sole or even primarily purpose. If that's what you're looking for, Akismet is a good choice.

This is more analogous to Google Friend Connect's wall widget. 1) It's for people using Facebook to leave wall comments; 2) This widget is a proof of concept for their connect model.
