For most people, I think it has less to do with audio quality and more to do with re-connecting with your music in a physical way. There's something about listening to an LP--choosing one from the shelf, taking it out from the sleeve, putti

This piece is completely bizarre and reads like a thirteen year old girl's livejournal. Flagged.

That's not what it's about. In the case of Billy Bragg, it is he who's trying to control Google's content. In the case of that Guardian piece, there's a fundamental lack of understanding about Google's role. Google is the lifeblood of co

I usually disagree with Arrington but found myself nodding my head while reading this. Traditional media's sense of entitlement with regard to the internet is truly astounding.

Hello All, So earlier today I launched a new music search/library browsing application that I've been working on for a few months. I'd really like to hear any constructive criticism my fellow hackers might have. The concept is pretty strai

A clever idea but the implementation is far from perfect. On the product page for V, a novel by Thomas Pynchon, I got a torrent link for the fifth installment of the Saw horror movie series.

It always irks me a bit when science is pushed out of its comfort zone to make some non-scientific point. Subtlety is lost, misconception introduced. And language like "just a theory" suggests that scientific theory is much less rigorous

In my experience family members give overwhelmingly conservative business advice because there's a deeper sense of guilt if things go amiss.

It's a loss for net neutrality. But not a win for the war against piracy. Things will be so nice once the music industry accepts this truth: recorded music is no longer a product, it's a marketing tool. It's time to start monetizing live

I agree to an extent, but what Shawn might have meant is that the trade-off between cluttering the design and making a few cents/day right now isn't worth it. It might be a better strategy to keep the most clean, minimalistic approach durin
