This comment resonated with me. I have always felt this way as an engineer, whether it be a startup or a big company. I was always at kids table by virtue of being an engineer. I solved it by becoming a product manager. I miss engineering,

This is always annoying because the only reason I would ever call is if I've exhaustively tried every way to use the website and encountered some sort of roadblock/edge case where they tell you to call in.

I am a bit confused, When you buy from Amazon, isn’t there an explicit indication whether you are buying from Amazon itself vs “marketplace” seller? Shouldn’t stuff direct from Amazon be legit?

I thought targeting by demographic, area, even “friends of” were already supported natively in FB ad targeting. Same goes for the pixel. It is hard to see what special sauce they are bringing here.

There do not seem to be any actual facts cited, only an anecdote from one person who is leaving. What is the rate of people leaving now, and what was it before?

Garbage article with no new information, regurgitating random bits of English-language blog posts about the app, with no "how".

You forgot the last step, which is to respond to every link posted on Hacker News, regardless of what it's about, with a complaint about how the site doesn't function correctly with your unique browser config.

The QQ Browser (QQ浏览器) is also pretty solid. I like its night mode better than UC's, and you can archive pages for offline use. Tencent doesn't seem to be trying to internationalize it as UC is, though.

Former WeChat PM here. Good analysis. But annoyed that mot western coverage of the app focuses on the breadth of features/platform stuff and belies the many ways that it's an extremely solid messaging app compared to many. The cho

I would be curious to see the bots you've made. Lots of side-projects don't get traction -- whether they're apps, sites, or bots. Would love to see what you've tried and learned along the way.

These are all ways to reach users in places they already are so that they can discover your bot. People who already have a reason to encounter you are much more likely to use your bot once they discover you have one. Here's what I mean

I read somewhat that this budget also covers around 9k people in shelters (or housed through some other form of aid). If you consider that, you get about $15K/head/year, which is not entirely ridiculous.

Xiaomi's Android UI has a "mute all notifications from this app" button after you swipe the notification. Apps in China love them some notifications, so this adaptation happened here first!

Actually, I think web apps could do it. Some browser could just add a ton of proprietary JS APIs for notification, payment, identity, etc, in the same way that WeChat and Kik have. The Chinese web browsers are beginning to bolt on features

I work at a software company in China. Like clockwork, at 1pm, the lights are cut, shades are drawn, then everybody pulls little beds out from their desks and takes a nap. It struck me as quite strange the first time I observed it. The actu
