There’s a good chance to get decent commissioners approved by a Democratic Senate. They can start a process to make new rules. Federal agencies have a rule making process which requires evidence and findings, especially to change prior rule

Many properties I’m looking at are assessed at a value in the $50-200k range but sell around $1mm. Long time residents in such cases Pay less than 1/5 the property taxes new residents pay.

We have a serious misinformation problem. It started with Fox News decades ago, and now it’s amplified by Facebook. It’s too easy for bad info and conspiracy theories to proliferate, and good info to be downplayed, before the truth rises to

Property taxes are calculated on the value of the land and the value of the structures. So current land value taxes would be about $2000. If a state were to pass a land value tax, it would calibrate it so that it offsets a reduction in the

There are grandmas around me in the bay area who own houses worth $1mm they bought for $100k. That means they made $900k. They can afford to pay the $10k in property taxes for 90 years, as long as we give them the option to defer paying unt

ARM should just go public and IPO. Why do companies rely on acquisitions so much? Let the public buy into these successful tech companies instead of having the gains accrue to already rich tech companies or private equity funds.

Why doesn’t the US just pass a countervailing law against censorship? When China tells a company to censor its employees or users, the company could just point to the US law saying it can’t. Then China has no leverage over it because the co

Maybe store brands should also be banned. We allowed this vertical integration in retail when maybe we shouldn’t. Yeah it shaves some costs, but is probably having a huge effect on supplier diversity and margins. If we’re revisiting the con

It's bad to rely on national champions like Boeing. Like Blackberry and Nokia, their pride leads to their eventual fall, taking out thousands of jobs with them when an upstart from outside (Apple) surges ahead. Better to have multiple

It's kind of nice to sue PG&E for fires. If bought out, we'd only be suing ourselves, and then tax payers would be the ones on the hook for bailing out all the homeowners who wanted nice cabins in the woods.
