Hmm I've been having similar concerns about the Windows rand_s function. Every Windows application including every modern browser relies on rand_s for secure random number generation but obviously the function is completely closed sour

It is interesting to see policies made in regards to Bitcoin vs. making a policy for all virtual currencies of similar type. I guess the main reason for focusing on Bitoin is that without naming Bitcoin you are forced to create a well defin

Would like to hear more detail about how it knows exactly where to drop the package. Best case I can think of would be using your phone to set a GPS location that you want it delivered to. The cool part about that is that I could have them

The system is now straining at the seams. Its computational underpinnings have collectively reached 100 times the performance of the world’s top 500 supercomputers combined: more than 50,000 petaflops. Bitcoin’s success has revealed three

Well, he was able to transfer out 643.27 coins which was not worth that much at the time and certainly not the windfall that he was hoping for. True, that portion could not be rolled back. I wonder if he kept those or transferred them back

Exchange was rolled back to before the hack, so all transactions after that point were voided. In the end nothing happened except that people had their trades reverted during that time.

An exchange is nothing more than a marketplace for buyers and sellers. They could in theory not buy the coins till you wanted to cash out, that would be a Ponzi scheme. That happened recently with a small exchange site. See this article: h

The important point about this incident was that there were no real Bitcoins involved. What happened was that someone added coins to an account balance on mtgox and then sold them. When you are using mtgox you are not actually buying and se

I think it depends on why people are buying the coins. If they are buying them to hold them, then it does not really matter. I think there are a lot of people out there who just want to quickly grab some Bitcoins and hold them for the long

I think the way you could probably do this is that you could let people buy using credit cards, but then not actually give them the bitcoins until the credit card chargeback timeline expired. The risk is obviously that as the exchange opera

That was exactly what had changed for me that day. I had already liked the company on my Facebook page out of choice and was perfectly happy to genuinely show support in my own way. Telling me at what hour I needed to post a particular link

Has 23andMe told their side of the story yet? The FDA's press release made it sound like 23andMe was very negligent, but there has to be more to it than that. I can't imagine a company just ignoring the FDA's requests.

My only surprise is that the winning team didn't keep their product quiet beforehand and do a good acting job on how hard they had to work to get it done within the deadline. A million dollar prize is very likely to create controversy

I'm talking more long term. Right now bitcoin is not a threat or a legitimate replacement for dollars. If and when bitcoins become a normal every day option for purchases, that story could really change. For example, one of the major p
