It's still worthwhile, and it will be for the foreseeable future. If you want to dabble in desktop with C#, Avalonia is the best way to go nowadays. I'm having a blast with it working on a couple of projects for my assigned client

They (Discord team) seem to not know what Free Software means too. Some time ago I asked them whether they planned to ever become Free Software so it could be actually safe and have a community around it, and after a couple of messages they

It is tragic that they won't support .MOE domains. Would have moved years ago by now.

Oh, it's the kiddo who thinks they are very smart and adult for being a proud-to-be-misinformed gratuitous anticommie again.

Then the individual goes on the dumber-than-life anti-communist rant. I love how he tries to create a bunker with "if you disagree you're into Scrum". I dislike Scrum quite a bit, but oh gee ain't that a full plate for S

You use Mac. You are already being attacked by Apple. Both on the permissions to run the computing you want, and your data being harvested by them. Good on you nonetheless to check one less, but the one still open is much larger, so the fig

Not using particularly privacy-hostile platforms is the actual best kind of security.

I mean, that's not _too_ different from the way Discord "officially" sells user data in the shadows.

In a way, this is pretty amusing. Two people ending up having very different conversations... talking to each other.

I mean, I'm super against supporting hostile government countries, but a lot of stuff is made in the US. It's hard to avoid money going there.

Apple is ready to pay a bit to keep pretending they have encryption. Must mean the money they get in the back from their user data is much bigger.

It's not, because Free Software handles practical and ethical advantages as an indivisible unit, while open source focus only on promoting practical advantages.

It's unfortunate it's not actually going to be Free Software, but being able to at least audit and do non-commercial is... better than Notion, I guess. But I do retract a fair portion of my excitement over the project. Your "

Since I've seen it (around HN, no less) years ago, it has been among the first few installations on every machine I handled. Beautiful. It feels tall in just the right way.

It's beyond ironic that Discord called itself that, being the successor to OpenFeint and its privacy lawsuit scandal, and being proprietary. Now it is one of the most privacy-hostile AND preservation-hostile platforms around.
