Are there any developers with Unicode experience able to comment on this? I know the character for Reiwa has been reserved but I’m unsure if programmers are familiar with Y2K-esque bugs that could happen.

In programming work I often can feel frustrated when I don’t know how to communicate a technical estimate or design nuance to a non-technical manager or stakeholder. If something such as this could be used as a to help express or explore te

This is an interesting article, but it’s worth noting that the study was on rats rather than humans.

I think left-wing creators are getting better at making compelling content on YouTube and having it as part of a discussion. Hbomberguy, Shaun, PhilosophyTube, and ContraPoints come to mind.

Other commenters have noted that this is a provincial rather than a federal bill, but it’s also worth adding context that this was a hot topic in Canada’s 2015 federal election. [1][2] [1] https://www.cbc.ca/news/politi

It was before my time, but I really love the Commodore 64's accessibility and learning curve in certain ways. One could mess around in Basic and slowly learn programming, as well as decide to drop into 6502 and manipulate things more i

I could understand saying something like this in private with an audience that understands the satire, but it strikes me as foolhardy to write/publish something like this as there’s no way of reading the room. If it’s a joke, it’s not

The 7DRL Challenge just completed this past weekend. A lot of the entries are quite small, and runs can be quite short. I think the 7-day time limit contributes to that.[1] [1] https://itch.io/jam/7drl-challenge-2019

You're touching on a really interesting point that I think both C++ and JavaScript have in common. Their specifications are very general-purpose (eg: ECMAScript, ISOC++) and generally decorated with a specific runtimes and standard lib

I agree that the act of submerging oneself into C++ is really a frustration about the language. It's a lot like using APL or Brainfuck as you mention and getting into gear. Still, I wouldn't say that C++ is a "true high-level

At someone who professionally works with relatively modern C++ (eg: C++14/17) and originally learned C++98, it's not as difficult once you get into the headspace of it. I'd definitely prefer writing in OCaml every day if I co

Most C++ shops I've worked at use MSVC and Incredibuild, so yes! I think MSVC is the norm in game development, especially for PC games, but I could be wrong on that.

In a lot of C++ game development this is a huge factor for productivity, especially since a lot of translation units may need to be touched when changing APIs. Being able to utilize an entire idle office for each .cpp file can make a big di
