Sass has an implementation of "watch mode": sass --watch + livereload (either the guard-livereload gem or the app). This allows you to save you file and have the browser immediately refresh. If you use middleman to build out your templates

rvm still has more traction in the community and the end result is going to be very similar to rbenv for the majority of users--except that rvm has a built-in rubies installer + gemsets, which can make things easier for beginners to dive in
