The problem is the majority of the companies who are stalling the IPv6 upgrade are in the US; which as chimeracoder stated is not going to feel the crunch as bad as other countries. People are very short sighted for one; and for two are af

Good marketing spam about their product. Nothing for the end user here; just to sell to companies. I wish recruiters would be: a) honesty. Nothing good is built on a lie. b) personal. Get Feedback if you are not interested and actively e

It is unfortunate that companies must resort to Termination Agreements and wave money in front of your face to buy 'brand loyalty'. (I Call it that) Additionally it is downright shameful that companies have forgotten to communica

Looks like a history lesson might be useful. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nixon_Shock We stopped operating on gold in 1971 and I doubt we could go back.

Unless you disable this; ext filesystems normally store this and can be pulled out of 'stat' easily. Sure you can read the whole file and count every line; or you can trust what the filesystem's metadata says it is.

So let's get this right. We want to use wc -l to count how many lines there are in a file? and we're using this to benchmark the Linux VM? The only thing I will say is; stop beating up your hard drives asking them to read the who

So you password protect the HTTP interface; is there anything that protects the 0mq interface? I used to for a PaaS and we made a mistake allowing one component to run any command what so ever. This can seem appealing; but it's a secu

Nice burn on Gentoo. I've had the job of supporting Gentoo on a PaaS and have deployed it many places happily. Sadly one of the dumbest arguments ever that will blacken the Linux horizon for decades, big dick syndrome over what Linux

Ahh another Gentoo distro. Never ceases to amaze me how people troll it and yet it keeps popping out in every nook and cranny. https://github.com/coreos/coreos-overlay/ Must have been a good idea that no one got.

Unions were (and are) a reaction to how some employers can treat employee's unfairly. Now it could be said the end result of an union is worse than the bad employer. Also, why would most workers want to be taxed (additionally on top of thei

I would suggest to not do anything that would make yourself look worse in the end. I would avoid saying things negative that he will then turn around and try and sue you (again!) for, such as leaving damning comments in the counter-suit. H

Gems are the most confusing thing to new Ruby users. Example that most people on HN will likely get, but most people in real life will ask you why? They have a point you should pay attention to. If you read most ruby books you'll get one of
