Why? What is anyone gaining by forcing individuals and businesses to utilize middlemen to split their cash across dozens of bank accounts? Just guarantee deposits for all and skip the performative complicated BS. Spread 250ks all comes out

Yeah I think the HN crowd is vastly overestimating how much people care about rates. Most people are not perfect financial optimizers - they’ll just pay whatever they can maximally afford per month for a house that most closely matches wha

It’s not trolling just because you aren’t understanding what’s being said. Recent MoM figures show inflation is way down, the annualized will follow down shortly.

Overly simplistic and just not true. There is nothing in observed or theoretical economics that says every “up” has to be exactly balanced by a same sized “down”. We would never get anywhere in aggregate if that was the case - net zero is c

I don’t know why you’re being downvoted - it’s the only thing that makes sense. If the fed doesn’t, then we’ll just see a huge boom in middlemen offering accounts that automatically spread across 250k chunks behind the scenes. They already

It’s not fear. Asking others to use a special (from their pov) app just to talk to me is me imposing a burden and an inconvenience on them. I don’t care enough about iMessage’s cons to annoy others around me.

There’s vanishingly few businesses that need <25ms. What business did you have in mind? Outside of trading , which yea of course that’s the wrong choice.

I work at a company that does ruby “at scale” too (10mil b2c users). Yes we need more web instances than we would have in go(or whatever). No, it doesn’t really matter at all - web process compute is a tiny fraction of our AWS bill, and a m
