In software we are always 90% there. Is that 10% the part that gives us jobs. I don’t see LLMs that different from, let’s say, the time compilers or high level languages appeared.

I’m not an old timer and I do read tech books on a weekly basis. It’s the only way for me to stay sharp in the industry. I also read documentation ofc. As for which books, the good ones. I’ve never done an online course or a bootcamp.

I don't need to bond with you. I don't need team-building exercises. I have been working for over a decade and made 0 friends at the office. I'm an easy going guy, though, no complaints or anything. Just keeping it profession

It always seems weird to me how people complain about such things. Just do your thing and don't care about others. If others are blocking you, just say so in the daily or to your manager. Easy. I don't really care about unproducti

I do get paid 50 euro per month for working remotely. It's on my contract. I didn't ask for it, but it's ok.

I like Fowlers writings, but honestly Refactoring is one of the worst tech books I have read.

Isn’t the secret sauce of notes to not read them at all? The act of writing is the precious thing.

Mistral cannot be “the EU AI company” if they don’t change their remote work policy. A truly “EU AI company” would benefit from the talent pool of all EU, not just from a couple of cities where they happen to have offices.

Am I the only one who doesn’t care if the team has one individual with such traits? Like, if it slows down execution, well, I’m not into squeezing the last drop of speed of everyone. Also, people like that always give you the chance to show

I worked briefly with Java/Kotlin a couple of years ago. The language is nice (better than I remembered it). What’s absolutely awful is the build tools around. I hate gradle. It’s overly complicated. The whole bom, settings gradle, bui

The split seems artificial now. Before, an average engineer would produce code sequentially, chunk after chunk. Each chunk submitted only after the previous one was reviewed and approved. Today, one could submit the whole thing for review.

To all the engineers using claude code: how do you submit your (well, claude’s) to review? Say, you have a big feature/epic to implement. Typically (pre-ai) times you would split it in chunks and submit each chunk as PR to be reviewed.

What can I do? Linux, git, C, gcc, vim, and a long list of top quality software have been developed just as you described. I feel ashamed of charging $9.99 for my shitty app, so I won’t.
