The article talks about the difference in the pre-fetcher between the two neoverse setups (Graviton and Grace Hopper). However isn’t the prefetcher part of the core design in neoverse? How would they differ?

Apple doesn’t like highlighting research or open source contributions in their marketing , likely because people speculate on what it means for products. There’s a ton of stuff out there from them that they intentionally appear to downplay

Unfortunately no, the only fix is for apps to adopt the newer APIs. The alert dialog is to direct you to disable screen recording permissions altogether, not to disable the warning.

Are you perhaps thinking of the Rabbit R1 and not the pin? I can imagine a somewhat affluent person doing a $199 stocking stuffer. I don’t see people doing a $699+perpetual subscription stocking stuffer. That’s kind of a significant burden

Given that GARM [1] is simply a recommendation body, that specifically does not penalize its members for going against it’s recommendations, I think it’ll be incredibly hard for X to prove collusion here or targeted ill intent as a group. I

I don’t believe they’re questioning the quality of the product but rather the broad market knowledge of it. It may be great or not, but it’s largely unknown outside of a tech bubble, and therefore is unlikely to be mentioned. There should b

Both Microsoft and Apple do password checks in a privacy preserving manner, where they do not have cloud access to it. I’d assume Google do the same. Do you have any evidence they have access to your data?

Somewhat agreed, but I don’t think this demonstrates that kind of failure . If the assumption is that the earlier system is responsible for rejecting spam, then I think it’s reasonable for the AI part to trust the email. To your point, it s

I wish I could say the same. I mark so many emails in my Gmail as phishing attempts but it just never learns. They’re super obvious ones too with a nonsensical email address, a repeating pattern about mcaffee or Norton in the title and an a

An existing system isn’t being replaced though. There was no prior system in Apple Mail to detect priority emails. The new opt-in feature is not responsible for spam detection. This is a failure of the existing spam detection classification

No, you don’t get Metal on Linux. They recently got Vulkan working, so if something can target the subset of Vulkan compute that is supported, it might work, but it’s fairly recent and afaik very few ML frameworks support a Vulkan backend.

A lot of the comments here are very cynical, perhaps because they’re focused on the license or the use for gaming. However as someone in the graphics community, these kinds of assets are great for researchers and demo purposes. Other scenes

You’re correct in that a market has to first be defined. I also wonder if the way that Apple is integrating OpenAI into Siri now is a gambit against such a thing. If Siri acts as a frontend to other competing products, then it likely keeps

It’s unclear imho if it would be an antitrust behaviour. Many regions have security exceptions as long as it’s a core feature. It also wouldn’t prevent competitors working at a higher level either.
