I do on days when I work from home. I like to move around the house when I code so I’ll do a bit of work from a couch each day to spend time with the pets , and then I just take my laptop+headset to get a good large screen experience. I als

They’re not necessarily just passion projects. They’re his play to have a new platform in the way that Google and Apple have Android and iOS. He’s been very clear that it’s his goal.

Except that’s not what Zuck did. In fact he’s made more public appearances and interviews.

I never said I thought he was cool. I said others do and I’m surprised how quick the public perception of him has changed. therefore my definition of cool is irrelevant.

It is truly odd how many men I see on social media platforms who now think of Zuck as “cool” given his previous image. It’s very interesting how a single suggestion from Thiel can cause him to redefine his entire persona (I assume with lots

That thread you linked doesn’t seem to align at all with your claims though? The majority of comments do not make the claim that they’re using any GenAI elements. As someone who’s worked in the industry previously and am quite involved stil

Meta aren’t exactly known for responsible use of technology. I would expect nothing less of Zuck than to imbue a culture of “tech superiority at all costs” and only focus on the responsible aspect when it can be a sales element.

On visionOS 2, there’s functionality to convert 2D images to 3D images for stereo viewing. https://youtu.be/pLfCdI0mjkI?si=8K7rPHu558P-Hf-Z I assume the first pass is the depth inference here.

Yes, if the site doesn’t have a public API, then you might have to prove specific authorization. But if a site does, like YouTube allows for embeds, then it falls under the “services terms of use”

You don’t need explicit specific permission. You just can’t backdoor an API. A public facing API is enough, and why so many Reddit apps used to exist.

I’d recommend reading Apple’s white papers on this. Even when a user opts (per request) to send data to OpenAI, it sends it obfuscated and requires OpenAI to not store anything. The only time something should be traceable to the user is if

There are VR mods for many games but nobody considers them VR games. But if we’re being pedantic, then “Second Life doesn’t require VR”. It predates mainstream VR headsets by a decade.

The Vulkan APi calls out to the same hardware. The benefit of using it via Vulkan is that you (in theory) don’t need to have multiple APIs for different GPU vendors.

In Apple’s presentation they specifically say that the OpenAI integration is akin to a plugin and they may have other providers, especially for domain specific knowledge in the future. The third party providers is smart imho. Apple take on

The “metaverse” isn’t tied to AR/VR. The metaverse , in most common definitions, refers to a virtual world and ecosystem as an alternate for the real one. See Ready Player One. Second life is a metaverse platform in essence. But isn’t

Cheaper for the cloud company. But that doesn’t always translate to cheaper for the end user. Maybe they cost more to run or maybe there’s fewer of them so they’re more expensive to book?

Why do you need a controller for any of that? Those are all point and click, with low precision and large hitboxes. Which is perfect for eye+hand. Almost every review says hand+eye is greatly intuitive, almost every user in the Vision Pro c
