Your comment is very spot on. So many people here bash Adobe but don’t actually use their products professionally. Would programmers listen to an artists opinion on programming languages and IDEs? Of course not. The opinions themselves may

Not quite. Photomator + Photos is sort of a Lightroom alternative but it’s not a fully integrated photo management system to the level of aperture or Lightroom. There’s a lot of organizational workflows that neither photos nor Photomator ev

Of course to make this strawman argument you have to ignore the previous comment that says you can do wired connections just over a different port type. Let’s also ignore any understanding of the DAC quality between older iPods and newer iP

Not to be flippant, but don’t your final two paragraphs boil down to : “if you ignore all the non-Linux stuff, everyone is on Linux?” Also why is that the “arguable subjective definition”? Why are we trying to define “actual engineering” at

The reason I asked is that macOS no longer runs 32-bit apps natively. So If they haven’t taken the time to make these 64 bit, there’s no real hope for a Mac native port again.

Anything graphics programming related. D3D and Metal are significantly more prevalent than OpenGL or Vulkan. Anything CAD related, because there’s next to no professionally used CAD software on Linux. Audio stuff. How many DAWs have a signi

“Actual engineering” is incredibly subjective. Arguably, more people do “actual engineering” on macOS and windows.

They do mention them in their press releases, they’re featured during accessibility day and they’re occasionally in ads too. I’m not sure what more noise would be relevant for these features.

Yeah I hate that people go for the easy fodder, which barely effects real world use, and ignore the multiple actual issues with it that would make it quite poor even if the charging port was fixed.

I agree that wanting to have more than 32bits of addressable space (not 32GB of memory) in a web app seems excessive. However the real win is the ability to use 64 bit types more easily, if for nothing else other than it simplifies making w

Fair enough, though I think that even if you don’t explicitly say it, the whole Artist vs Art framing only leaves that interpretation. As can be seen by the rest of the responses here.

AFP was still the default though in 2012. And even though you weren’t able to provision new time capsules to communicate over AFP, it was still supported. I’d bet there’s a significantly larger set of devices active at any given time during

Ah the SMB alternative. Okay yes I’m familiar with that. Unfortunately it was still frequently in use 10 years ago on Apple systems (particularly the time capsule which was only discontinued in 2018) , and there are derivatives in use today

I can’t find a reference to a filesystem called AFS. Would you have a link? As far as I know there was Macintosh File System (MFS) which was replaced by HFS/+ and finally APFS. But ReiserFS was also infamous for its difficult to mainta

Yeah most major distros that used it (like OpenSuse) moved away before the murder case. His wife was reported missing in September 2006. OpenSuse dumped it in October 2006. She wasn’t feared dead yet. He was arrested April 2008. By the time

The premise of this post is incorrect. ReiserFS stuck around for almost two decades after his crime. The reason it’s being removed has very little to do with his crime and more to do with the stability and maintenance capabilities of it. Fo

Thanks. That’s a good list, though I think the majority of the changes were from deprecations early in the 3.x days and are API changes, whereas the OP was talking about syntax changes for the most part.
