In a taxi, the passenger is not the liable party. Teslas aren't approved to operate as taxis, whereas Waymos explicitly are. I think that's the difference here.

There's a full bodycam video here[1] of an officer in Phoenix pulling over a Waymo. The driver's window gets rolled down and he gets connected via voice to a Waymo agent and they're able to discuss what was going on. Waymo th

What is considered "high"? The Rivian R1T's clearance goes up to 14.9 inches, and has a motor per wheel. Does it count?

I'm struggling to think of any mainstream big tech products that incorporated crypto at all. Besides some financial apps adding an additional tab for it.

What? The original Siri asked if the user wanted to continue their search on the web if it couldn't handle it locally. It was one of the last things from the Jobs era.

I work with the folks who built that! It truly was months of giddy passion on their part[1]. And it was such a joy to see in person. Disclosure: I might not have worked on The Orb but I do work on Steam Deck and other projects at Valve. [1]

That's like saying why should anyone at all make music, art, hire actors, etc., when A.I. will be able to do all of these tasks identically over the next couple years (partially already). The human element is important. Because we'

Programming in YAML (for Home Assistant automations) was quite... something. I very quickly switched all of my logic over to vanilla JavaScript in Node-RED and haven't looked back.

I'm also somewhat avoiding Boeing planes these days (hard when you live in Seattle and almost exclusively fly Alaska) but just to nit, 777s don't have MCAS.

Does presentation "deck" not come from when presentations were piles of slide cards? A "deck" of slide cards? Resembling a deck of cards? Do you also go into skateboard shops with this rant when they refer to their board

This game just looks so good today. I know lots of folks already knew that games don't have to look AAA to be excellent, and the success of Minecraft really drove that idea home to the masses, but this game really stands out to me. It

What's the difference? When I select "New Folder" on my computer's file browser, it creates a directory. Your comment is the first time I'm hearing they're not interchangeable.
