Isn't Google's name Google? I'm not a fan of huge corporate entities as much as the next guy, but none of them are nameless. Did you mean: Faceless?

Calling Google benevolent is laughable, but even if the aren't the most highly paid workers, these still pretty highly paid workers are stretching the original function of a union to my mind. Its almost like unions are highly political

Oh, feel free to run with any ideas of mine if they strike a chord. I'm not competent enough to tackle making a whole DE just to satisfy my curiosity at this moment.

I recall reading this and some related papers a while ago, and for the fun of it I tried my hand at mocking up a UI based on the ideas laid out. The basic premise was that the application menu was replaced with a "new document" m

I feel many touch interfaces are still fundamentally WIMP. You can only use one, maybe two apps at a time, but they are still windows - just tiled, not floating, and always accessed from a list, not a stack. Icons are obviously still a th

Sounds like the village that Microsoft Bob's house was in. I don't actually think the ideas of things like Bob were bad, though, I just think they were cumbersome. Using the post office example, a top down map would solve everyth

I'm boring because I just have a few simple IFTTT things on my phone that send notifications to remind me of things depending on some condition (e.g. weather or location). The problem is that they are super ignorable and I tend to for

It could just be fake busy. Timing is everything in comedy, so give a first time user a little suspense to think advanced computer magic is happening before the punchline arrives.

I love a light hearted thing every now and then, and this tickles me very much! Reminds me of a "user locator" website I once saw. It claimed to use advanced algorithms to locate the person using the website, so when you clicked

I'd rather a traditional dealership than having to log into my car. When I got my Skoda Citigo it was a pretty painless experience, aside from the fact that motorised wing mirrors weren't standard.

I'd argue against referencing your constitution since its not my constitution, but to my knowledge Buzzfeed is a US corporation, so I guess it still applies.

Just skimming the article because I kinda want to just give my thoughts on the title, since I kinda think the news should source their research more and provide evidence for their claims. Obviously people make anonymous statements and I do

I used a customised MATE on a Raspberry Pi with touch screen. It wasn't an amazing experience, but the on-screen keyboard was reasonable. I don't know what OSK Gnome uses - it could just be a version of the same thing - but the

I don't know, given the Isle of Man is in the middle of it, maybe it should be The Manx Sea? If we don't want anyone to own it, maybe call it The Sea of Sodor? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodor_(fictional_i

To me the Conservative party feels fairly centrist at the moment, or at least they certainly aren't as right-leaning as our Big Media seems to portray them. Just a personal thought.

So, my argument against "side by side is easier" might seem niche, but here goes: I prefer tall-screen versus wide-screen for reading - and not just code but reading in general. The article actually hints that this is default for
