It would be nice if the article could also link to the original announcements of stuff like the parallel execution, with clause support etc (it does link it on one or two occasions). It's a bit sparse on details and this would give peo

Does anyone else find it odd that both Base-122 was created with the web in mind. And As §3 shows, base-122 is not recommended to be used on gzip compressed pages, which is the majority of served web pages. Occur in just a few lines fro

And how do you know it was related to the kernel and CPU combo? Do you have some series of patches that have been landed in the kernel since that claim to fix the issues you've had and have you tried those?

Deployment scripts can make automated changes to config files and need paths. And proper deployment systems can handle this. Or it's templated and can be changed with a single variable. We're also not talking about every possibl

On one hand, I'd go farther. I like apt, but I wish that distros would use the same packaging system and same package format I agree however that's rather off topic. This is not about harmonising between Linux distributions. The

Sure, but then the problem isn't the information they collect but the fact that it goes to Google. Short from them setting up their own analytics service though, to whichever one you send this data it'll be traceable up to some ex

The information brew collects I would hardly call personally identifiable. Take a look at what they collect: https://github.com/Homebrew/brew/blob/master/docs/Analytics....

Yeah, same issue. I'm a bit surprised that they didn't bake this in from the start with GCP. Can't even terminate IPv6 on a Google Cloud load balancer and then do v4 internally. At least GCS does IPv6.

And Google Cloud too. All Compute Engine networks use the IPv4 protocol. Compute Engine currently does not support IPv6. However, Google is a major advocate of IPv6 and it is an important future direction.

Thank you for this! I have no experience with PHP (old or new) so I was mildly puzzled by the article. The two concerns raised seemed to be "their app layout is old school" and "they're not rewriting to pretty URLs"

I wouldn't consider that a slap in the face. It's a rant, it's not the first about Docker and it won't be the last. Docker seems to be doing just fine despite that and many posts like it. Though the author has some good

I don't turn on caps. I usually only need it for a single letter, so the shift key does wonders. I follow this setup[1], where caps lock can both function as ctrl and esc depending on how long you press/hold. [1]: http:/

That depends a bit on what you define as prerendering. Facebook, Google and many others render client views server side (or as much as possible). See Spotify's recently open sourced HubFramework for example for how they do that with iO
