Actually I would consider that a decent comment, since get_name() doesn't actually say what name it is getting. It could have been some other name in the system. This would depend on the context and the surrounding code though.

That's the same sort of thing that comes with computer games that have implemented the Risk model, ones such as the Total War series and the Paradox games like Europa Universalis. Effectively there has to be some other mechanic that ta

I think you've got the links the wrong way around. But this is basic market segmentation, just based on the person buying and not on the product being sold. Hence why it seems more scummy.

Closing all of the Nuclear power plants after Fukushima was a bit of a dumb reactionary move. It's shifted power generation from emission free Nuclear to dirty emission heavy coal, which emits more radioactive Uranium into the atmosphe

I'd hypothesise that anyone skilled enough to be using a text browser is also skilled enough to be a "hacker" and will most likely have a computer filled with "hacking tools" and other "circumvention devices&qu

But we already have that with things such as style sheets, where you can specify font styles which transform the text to all upper case, all lower case, small caps, etc. And as another comment pointed out there's even ligatures, which

It would be fine if it just changed visually depending on the context, without actually changing the underlying character data.

Basically like Politicians, have to be seen doing something, even if it's completely useless or gets reversed soon after. Otherwise why have so many Administrators, or need to hire more Administrators if there is not enough to do?

Could it be that the executives will get in more trouble for selling the shares - i.e. insider trading - than for managing the company with such a massive data breach?

Of course that depends how much more you have to write in one language compared to another. Say you're 10x more productive but have to write 5x code, that sort of cuts down the advantage somewhat.

Yes, but they'll most likely have a Police escort when they come and take your children away. If you want to escalate it further then for sure you will not be getting your children back under your care any time soon.

A more sinister way of looking at this is that the government wants to raise children to be more dependent on an authority figure. So that when they grow up to become adults they will more naturally defer to authority and the state will hav

Yeah, direct debit is the only way I can think of this to happen where it is not a bank error (like in a previous reply). While certainly a convenience, I am still a little bit wary of allowing any company to automatically take money out of

How can someone else other than the account holder transfer money out of that account? Based on my experience anyone can transfer money in to an account, but only the account holder or an authorised user can transfer it out.
