I'm pretty sure entire companies don't collapse, but projects are canceled and companies are limited in what they can do by relying on overly-complex solutions. I know that from experience. Of course, that's one thing that can give a start

Here's another take on Java, well, really it's more about Python: "In a recent talk I said something that upset a lot of people: that you could get smarter programmers to work on a Python project than you could to work on a Java project. I

Thanks for making me chuckle. You do make a good point. If this was just another enterprise Java job, I wouldn't have listed it. I guess I was mostly curious about the Erlang/Android angle.

I did a test search and found a Erlang/Android job "by the beach." I don't job surf very often and I'm not currently looking for another day job, but this has to be one of the coolest job listings I've seen: http://careers.stackoverflow.c

I'm an outlier in a few different ways in life, and in my 40's, I am with startups as well. I didn't discover how satisfying being an entrepreneur could be until I really started trying it in my late 30's and now I can't get enough. I al

Familiarity breeds contempt. Often it's the language that coders are currently using that seems like the worst, because they're dealing with that language's problems on a daily basis.

Very good point. There are certainly tactical moves that will change due to conditions, such as fund raising. But the general "run for the hills" attitude I see in many of these posts isn't productive. It's almost as if I see people hesit

I do wonder what Fred Wilson and other VCs perceive as "difficult," even from brilliant people. A founder demanding to retain control after a series A might be seen as difficult from the VC's eyes. A founder who has a great vision that's
