Literally in the article: “Our paper says that the Atlantic overturning has not declined yet. That doesn’t say anything about its future, but it doesn’t appear the anticipated changes have occurred yet.” The study is a stark contrast to a 2

I hate endless catastrophism in the headlines. Article contents doesn't reflect the alarmist statement in the header.

Would you accept the same quality of implementation from a human team?

But can it compile "Hello, World" example from its own README.md? https://github.com/anthropics/claudes-c-compiler/issues/1

Any such "self-improvement loop" would have a natural ceiling, though. From both algorithmic complexity and hardware limits of underlying compute substrate. P.S. I am not arguing against, but rather agreeing with you.

Hardware is bound by even harder limits (transistor's gate thickness, speed of light, Amdahl's law, Landauer's limit and so on).

It is exactly the same metric. Intelligence is not magic, be it organic or LLM-based. You still need to go through the training set data to make the any useful extrapolations about the unknown inputs.

Would never work in reality, you can't optimize algorithms beyond their computation complexity limits. You can't multiply matrix x matrix (or vector x matrix) faster than O(N^2). You can't iterate through array faster than O(

Well, that would be nice, honestly - to have Android as another option for desktop OS. I remember there were some experiments to create a hardware laptop shell to insert smartphone into.
