Images wouldn't work though, right? I'd be amazed if that worked. My CLI tools handle those.

Right, turns out Claude and ChatGPT voice can also do web-search. So I guess behind the scenes there is more than a "pure" voice-voice model being used, i.e. there's probably a rudimentary agent loop with tools + tool-exec in

Ok, I was wrong. I just tested ChatGPT voice, Claude Voice and Gemini Live. And all three are able to do web search. For some reason, I thought when I tested ChatGPT voice a few weeks ago, it sometimes said it can’t directly open links, b

Also in general I don't know get what the appeal of a 7b full-duplex (speech-to-speech) model is: 7b can't be very intelligent on its own, and for anything useful, you'd need tool-calls, which speech-to-speech models can'

Built out the demo on my M1 Max Macbook and it was absolutely terrible. Around 10 seconds for each reply, and even then it was saying something totally unrelated.

Interesting, in my Arc browser, I just tried File -> open -> upload -> blah.md and it does seem to render fine. This exact thing did not work a few weeks ago, meaning the various header markers etc showed up as raw "##" e

Related, I often work with markdown docs (usually created via CLI agents like Claude Code) and need to collaborate with others in google docs, which is extremely markdown-unfriendly[1], so I built small quality-of-life CLI tools to conver

For MacOS I haven’t seen any STT app that has faster transcription than Hex (with Parakeet V3), which leverages Apple silicon + FluidAudio: https://github.com/kitlangton/Hex This is now my standard way to speak to cod

Was a big fan of Handy until I found Hex, which, incredibly, has even faster transcription (with Parakeet V3), it’s MacOS only: https://github.com/kitlangton/Hex

May or may not be related to a surge in VPS hosting of OpenClaws on Hetzner. It’s a very popular option right now.

Yes people are too fixated on just the model. The real question for coding use cases is - does Gemini X + Gemini CLI outperform Opus + Claude Code? With 3.0 the answer was no. I won’t waste time checking 3.1 until I hear otherwise.

I ran into this question when thinking about the approach for a recent project. Yes CLI coding tools are good agents for interactive use, but if you are building a product then you do need an agent abstraction. You could package Claude Code

Big fan of handy and it’s cross platform as well. Parakeet V3 gives the best experience with very fast and accurate-enough transcriptions when talking to AIs that can read between the lines. It does have stuttering issues though. My primary

Speaking of audio + AI, here's a "learning hack" I've been trying with voice mode, and the 3 big AI labs still haven't nailed it: While on a walk with mobile phone + earphones, dump an article/paper/HN-Pos

It's amazing how good open-weight STT and TTS have gotten, so there's no need to pay for Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, Eleven-Labs etc. Sharing my setup in case it may be useful for others; it's especially useful when working wit

Indeed. Over a few days of iterations I had this TUI built for fast full-text search of Claude Code or Codex sessions using Ratatui (and Tantivy for the full-text search index). I would never have dreamed of this pre coding agents. https:&

Hex is my new favorite STT on MacOS. Also uses Parakeet V3. I didn't think it could possibly be faster than Handy, but it is much faster - even long ramblings transcribed within a second. It's MacOS only, leverages the CoreML

I think there’s a level beyond 8: not reviewing AI-generated code. There’s a lot of discussion about whether to let AI write most of your code (which at least in some circles is largely settled by now), but when I see hype-posts about “AI

Indeed it's extremely fast, now my go-to for STT on MacOS. I made a PR to allow single-tap toggle hotkey instead of double-tap. Unlike Handy which aims to be multi-platform, Hex is MacOS-native and leverages the CoreML + Apple Neural E

Related: I used the amazing 100M-parameter Pocket-TTS [1] model to make a stop-hook based voice plugin [2] that lets Claude Code give a short voice update whenever it stops. The hook quietly inserts nudges to Claude Code to end its response

There’s a tradeoff here. If you want streaming output, then you lose the opportunity to clean it up in post processing such as removing filler words or removing stutters, etc., or any other AI based cleanup. The MacOS built-in dictation str

Same here. I haven’t found an ASR/STT/transcription setup that beats Parakeet V3 on the speed/accuracy tradeoff spectrum: transcription is extremely fast (near instant for a couple sentences, 1-3 seconds for long ramblings),
