Usually at least a few, and none of them seem aware of the others. Even when I was interviewing with them a few years ago individual recruiters appeared to not remember who they had already put me in touch with.

Maybe it's because I just re-watched it, but it reminds me of Walter in The Big Lebowski connecting everything to Vietnam.

I think this is both insulting and not even responding to the right comment.

The truth is at scale the last thing you want is a nest of unmanaged complexity, so it’s also the wrong instinct there. It’s usually contact with the real world that dictates what needs the extra engineering effort, and trying to do it ahe

I wanted to agree with this, but this line (mentioned as a premature optimization) is absolutely baffling to me: “More than one language for your application. For example, a backend in Golang, Ruby, PHP etc. and a Frontend Web App in React,

It depends on whether I expect it to get a lot of load. I pretty much always do for anything I expect to get any kind of traffic at scale. The closer the load is to a real-world workload the better. If I'm building a log ingestion cl

I’ve been immersed in it most of my life. I can’t say the same about Muslims because I never was one.

Christianity’s true face has been shown. I’ve rarely seen it to have anything to do with the teachings of Christ.

> All things considered, it could be much worse. This is insane. How can this be normalized? Are there people on here who think this is okay? How can this not be downvoted to oblivion? If this is normalized, all is lost, and I do mea

I don't think people should downvote comments like these. It started a good discussion.

I would assume this could go unsaid, but apparently it needs to be said somewhere in this thread: there is zero comparison between the US and an autocratic dictator who attempts to kill and then jails his opposition, runs fraudulent electio

This book is a work of art. It's one of the best technical books I've ever read. Truly a masterpiece along every dimension.

I've become a lot more willing to burn my karma on here as of late. Not because I want to, per se, but what's the point of getting it if you can't spend it occasionally when you really have something you need to say?

I can't help but think this way about nearly everything. Almost all compound, higher order effects are hidden from the naked eye and cursory glances. We tend to focus on superficial, simplistic explanations, or, at least, things that

I need a shower after reading this comment. This is HN cynicism at its worst. This article is pretty pro-worker; I’d have to do somersaults to twist it as being secretly in favor of negative boss behaviors like micromanagement.

Hogwash. People made similar arguments about Trump (i.e. that the liberal media was taking his words out of context). I could see both men's juvenile tweets and judge for myself.

Yeah, this is what really sucks. I figured I’d check out Walmart or target, but I started seeing the same third party junk on there too. Seems like they’re trying to copy Amazon.

I 100% agree with you. I really liked Amazon and don’t want to see them screw it up. It’s easy to forget that when Amazon does it well it’s essentially the stuff of science fiction writing just a few decades ago.

Ugh. Thanks for mentioning that. I've been getting protein powder from Amazon as well as vitamins and some other supplements. I should stop that ASAP.
