By the way, I love Python and use it every day, so I'm not trying to get into a language war. The difference between using a decorator and a lisp macro is that using a decorator is "using the syntax of the language to solve your p

I hear you but not really because you have to wrap everything in lambdas. Also, you didn't add a whole new variable in the workflow "it" but passed it as a function. You're right that I could have used a better example,

Here's an example of why arc/lisp are great: (mac awhen (expr . body) `(let it ,expr (if it (do ,@body)))) This basically add a new syntax to the language. How often did you do in python: some_value = my_funct

I definitely see some uses to it as a way to pass client code to the server safely. What would stop the client from using global variable though?

My personal opinion is what killed most very good languages is the "elite" and "math" aspect of them. By elite I mean people who thought they were so much superior to everyone else (And they were!), that they'd left

It's the little bit everyday that adds up. Like piano practice session, you don't wake up one day being a master, you grind it out over 10 years, every day little by little. The most productive sessions are the ones where you stru

I don't disagree, but keep in mind that on the large codebase you want to avoid false negative in term of pep8 errors.. I.e. if every time you build you see 100s of errors, you start to ignore those.

There is an amazing book on cryptography that explains the core concepts through the age of the technology. It was a really insightful read and I learned a lot about the history of computing at the same time.

It's always a trade-of between speed of development/maintenance vs performance. I think React is the best good enough compromise there is. It's really fast and a joy to work with. But obviously, in certain very specific cases
