I've seen this comment a few times now across HN and article comments. Can you say more about why you hold this opinion? It seems clear to me that Google deciding not to focus on game development is showing a level of awareness we shou

Streaming also does away with the hassle of downloading updates and managing storage space. I would happily avoid loading up my macbook with games even if it could run them.

I have Stadia, love it, and don't care that much about quality. I care that it's console-free and on the two TVs I bounce between, or wherever else.

Yes, in the US there's weather.gov. The govt has a vested interest in settling people down (...usually) and the opposite for the media/weather so I like to bounce between both for larger storms.

This is a similar argument to the semantics of black lives matter and refund the police. Sure, maybe there's a better name to make a better first impression, maybe not. Move past it. Ironically you already have by simply referring to i

I agree with you but I do think it's worth thinking about self interest vs greed. Not a conversation that can be wrapped up in a thread but there's so much to unpack.

My favorite line from the article is "There are simply no alternatives" as people build cash reserves and buy stores of value like gold and Bitcoin. People are hungry for an alternative, but yes I suppose if you only consider stoc

I think you mean "you don't need cookie banners if you have your own identifier" which they certainly do and affords them the luxury of this blog post.

Another frustrating "web analytics is evil" post, this time trying to not store PII in a service that disallows PII as part of their terms of service.

Alternatively, it's time to adjust expectations and understand that if a product or service doesn't hit the growth curve Google expects, they sunset it. A lot of businesses would be more successful if they learned how to do this a

Overall I'm excited to see this, as much as I don't need one more subscription (and have a very legacy, free, personal GSuite for a custom domain so I can't use One anyway). Maybe this is a strategic transition to a more cons

Since I see some agreeing comments, I'll throw out a bit about why I disagree. Like shopping on Amazon, or buying from China, I'm going to do what's best for me as an individual. It's government's job to step in and

This 100%, well put. Within businesses, people have evolved far past market definitions where widget x¹ competes with widget x². Our political savvy as consumers would improve if we could see that as well. For example, why would Google appr

There's a lot of negativity on HN for tools like AirTable, but as someone that uses Coda regularly, I find it invaluable as a prototyping tool, if not a "production" internal app. There's nothing quite like having modele

Sure, here in Vermont we have lots of dry good options (cereal, dry tea, spices, etc) that are bulk into reusable containers. Pringles aren't conducive to that but I'd certainly scoop tortilla chips, goldfish, etc if I could.

How your membership is organized in an LLC matters too. I assumed pass through, no revenue no taxes no filing, but apparently in my state a two member LLC is a partnership for tax purposes and requires filing.
