I am totally on the other end of the spectrum. For $20 a month, the amount of value I get from ChatGPT is incredible. I can talk to it in voice mode to help brainstorm ideas, it teaches me about different subjects, it (+ claude code) helps

I think its worth discounting against the failure rates of humans also. > Depending on the context, and how picky you need to be about recognizing good or bad output, this might be anywhere from a 60% to a 95% success rate, with the rema

One thing that I’ve been trying to understand about this discourse: Is the sum of the increase in costs some people are now paying greater than the subsidies that previously existed? In other words: was there always a massive bill to be pai

For what its worth, the Economist recently wrote about how universal child care can harm children, citing a study from Quebec. > The trio published their first study in 2005, and the results were damning. Shifting to universal child care

Its the flexibility and power of Kubernetes that I think is incredible. Scaling to multiple nodes is trivial, if your entire data plane is blown away, the recovery is trivial. You can also self host almost any open source service without an

Our entire data stack (Databricks and Omni) are all down for us also. The nice thing is that AWS is so big and widespread that our customers are much more understanding about outages, given that its showing up on the news.

If anyone is looking for a gentler, Heroku like onramp to Kubernetes, its exactly why I built Canine [1]. In retrospect, at my previous company, what we really needed in the early days was something that was Heroku-like (don't make me

We discovered a similar cost saving and I ended up building an internal PaaS that i ended up open sourcing, that works well on hetzner. The biggest downside to hetzner only is that it’s really annoying to wrangle shell scripts and GitHub ac

I'd say the biggest difference is in the backend -- canine is built on top of kubernetes, which is what lets it leverage the rich ecosystem of tooling and packages. Kubernetes has a reputation for being difficult to use, and so Canine
