In a way yes, but isn't one of the "rules" that is has to be cached/re-served from Googles servers as well? That is a rather problematic one, especially wrt antitrust issues...

O, definitely. Anecdote, but count me among these people. I had 4 or 5 iPhones, and 1 Android phone sometime in the middle (before my 6s). I am currently on the Xs, but if Apple keeps this pricing strategy I will not buy another iPhone agai

I would argue that VR is the next step like this. Even taking an "old" title like Skyrim drives home that no matter how nice the renderer makes it look on a screen, it is still flat. With VR you are in the place. Does the raytraci

One web annoyance I have recently discovered is moving the current tab. So far only one website I know uses it, but that is really annoying... when you click on specific links on that site, it suddenly moves the ative tab to the very right

Indeed. I upgraded from a 6S, and was going to order a XR, when I finally, in the last minute, actually measured the dimentsions out in comparison to my current phone. Then I basically said WTF and waited for some deal on the XS and bought

Just a quick comment: I use MiniKeePass on iOS. It is not that nicely intergrated etc., but you can at least keep using your files etc. You will have to manage the file on your "cloud server" though, two-way-sync is not there yet.

In case you are not joking... in metric countries we still say the same sentences you say, with miles and inches. That doesn't mean we use the olde units to actually measure something...

In Germany, almost no one buys cars new except for really wealthy people, car aficionados, or corporations. Most people buy used cars. That is also a reason why the German car makers have such a high end portfolio that doesn't make sen

During my university years I orked as IT support. We always joked we could just steal computers off campus, nobody of the security team (or students) even looked at us twice when we took computers from offices and walked out with them...

Also note that there actually is a team hard at work improving the console, so fixes will probably come. See the last two entries in this blog: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/commandline/tag/console/

While probably true (not checking the real law right now), that list is weirdly misleading. For example it's not forbidden to drill on a sunday or tune your piano at night, you are simply not allowed to disturb other people too much at

Yes, I do that too: last year I explicitely checked potential vacation hotels for "terrible and lacking entertainment" because I wanted a quiet hotel. Had a great stay in an adult-only hotel without any entertainment at all, exact

Sure, maybe they did the math, maybe they just couldn't be arsed. But whatever the real reason why they didn't take the job - someone else (DHL itself) actually did the correct math and is now actually a viable competitor fo

This one [1] was linked on another blog in Germany on a discussion of the same topic, seems more like a Google Maps type application and is not as heavy to load (also misses some legend, but... well). [1] https://openinframap.org

In Germany, It's the other way around - I'd love to continue using Google Play Music, but Spotify is included in the T-Mobile zero-rating, and GPM is not... :/

Just as a single counterpoint: Spotify has Mixtape of the Week and two similar auto-generated playlists, and the songs in there are at best vaguely related to what I listen to on Spotify - I haven't found anything interesting in there.

Even the earplugs you can get for around 20 protect your hearing enough with their 12dB reduction, and there are models do not noticeably change the sound. Plus: most are simply transparent plastic and hardly noticeable at all. I wear some

Counterpoint: as a German, I know that when a sign says 50kmh, everyone goes 60, and when it says 70, everyone goes 80, etc. If you go as fast as the sign says, you will most likely cause traffic.
