Willing to bet this is another case of VC money subsidizing low unsustainable prices for consumers.

You know why I hate the internet? Because The Guardian is asking for donations.

Same thing with weightlifting. There's a fine line between a workout that makes me feel amazing and one that leaves me totally depleted. Nutrition also has an impact (before and after).

That is due to your exposure to sunlight, which helps set circadian rhythms. It's pretty well known that a bit of camping can help insomniacs or people with poor sleep. Also, sunlight helps you wake up. I'm not a morning person, b

It's France, they actually have standards for food quality.

Amazon does these things for PR only. The only place checkout lines have ever been an issue for me is the Whole Foods at Union Square NYC and that's a rare situation.

Throwing away big chunks of your company for VC cash before you've done a lick of work is risk taking?

Even finance is being upended actively by automation and AI. The narrative will follow the "drug war." When it's the poor people (factory workers::blacks), they're just "losers" who need to try harder or should

The New Economy: http://www.wvgazettemail.com/news-health/20161217/drug-firms... Think of the additional economic boost from treating these people in hospitals, or even better, prisons! Countless "jobs"

Not for the larger cycle IMO. Last forty years almost perfectly covers the working (productive and consumptive) lives of the baby boomers and all that went with that. It also is the first and only 40 year period after Bretton Woods, so we c

The first line of the article calls them criminals. Have they been convicted of any crime? Is what they are doing illegal in Russia? I hope these guys also sue this publisher for some extra income.

Are you really trying to argue that service doesn't matter? You're OK with a horrible grumpy waiter at your favorite restaurant?

Why not? The drivers are more pleasant and of much higher quality so I'm getting better service.

The local startups are going to kill them. Juno is so much better in NYC. Nobody misses uber in Austin with Fasten and Fare. Each major city will beat Uber with their own local competitor with better service and better driver relationships.

I would just take Juno. The drivers here in NYC are only doing Uber to get enough ratings to qualify for Juno. Uber went way too far squeezing drivers, it's a mess. I've seen their Uber pool earnings ... It should be illegal.

Jobs' success justified his controlling jerk persona. These guys generally have huge egos and wish they could get away with being assholes too like Steve did. His personality is what they aspire to, not his success.

I thought NYT went down the toilet this election season (including primaries coverage of Bernie Sanders), but then I remember they strongly pushed the narrative of Iraq having WMD on behalf of the MIC and supported the invasion.

I'm not parent poster but I do find Americans hype everything up, including their cities; probably that has a lot to do with all the media/tv/film here too, anyhow it does become annoying (and I'm American).

Something similar to the Branson foreign ownership issue: Rupert Murdoch had to give up his Australian citizenship to be allowed to own US television stations.

Everyone eventually leaves their 20s and many will want to raise a family in safe place with good schools. This can definitely be done in urban areas but definitely not in Detroit (city proper). Not only that but people want to live in plac
